  1. You should rinse the phosguard and Soak for 5 to 10 minutes before put into your tank and phosguard is aluminium base absorbent and Rowaphos is iron base absorbent you need to check your or alkalinity properly maintain around 8dkh before implement po4 absorben such as Rowaphos or phosguard. Both also great product but having difference absorbent capability during initial implement. Phosguard will absorb large quantity of phosphate for the first 3 days and gradually decrease the effectiveness if the absorbent media is full. So your tank alkalinity must be able to buffer the suddent ph drop and for Rowaphos more gentle and constant. I have successfully bring down my po4 to very low level by implement 2 steps 2 product trick. For the first 3 days I use phosguard and replace with Rowaphos for the long run. Tank cloudy have many possibility, bacteria bloom, unexpected alteration tank water parameter by owner such as chemical addition. For your case I suspected cause by the powder in the phosguard,If the cloudy still not disappear after few day you implement very fine filter floss in the sump or power filter a water change will be best way to reset everything. You also can email seachem at support@seachem.com to get more detail for their product other than documented in the label. Hope this will help.
  2. Yes I tried before, very good salt, coral expand more bigger and coraline algae growth very fast. No3 reading 0ppm from fresh salt mix(I mix with DI water).No3:p04-x also like other carbon dosing system and need to take some time to see the your no3 and po4 start to reduce. Try to include more info of your tank I sure more professional in the forum will try to help

  6. To me addition activated carbon is the minimum to compliment to the simple DI resin filter, below are some info for you to decide: DI Resin: De ionization removes ions (heavy metals or salts) dissolved into the water. RO membranes: Membranes remove bacteria, virus, metals, salts (ions). Carbon Filters: Carbon absorb chlorine, chemicals and filter particulate matter. Sediment filters: Sediments filter out particulate matter only.
  7. Wow bro you have a very nice diy skill , hope can save you from 5 cartons burden
  8. Very nice tank journal, waiting to see more update
  9. Up for very good quality carbon, only use 400ml really make my 100g mix reef tank water crystal clear for 2 week and on par with the leading brand on the market. The most important is this carbon did not leach any of phosphate( check using TROPIC MARINE PO4 Tester after 3 days running on my small experiment tank). Thanks for the good price + free delivery and help me save a lot.
  10. Chances are more higher if you post to this fresh water forum because stainless steel not recomended use in salt water tank http://www.aquaticquotient.com

  12. yo bro, your water melon size is from cold storage one or gian hypermarket one
  13. Something wrong with your tank circulation design, the power head should place at the return side and you also will encounter main tank overflow if your sand bed clog due to the water from your sump return back to your main tank VERY DANGEROUS!!!!
  14. Just to share some of my experience here, Under gravel filter still very good filter due to the sand surface for bacteria colonization are very large and simplicity to operate but you need to follow few simple strict rules listed below, 1. The sand particle size must in between 3 to 5mm (smaller size the sand bed will clog faster and too big you need to create more thicker sand bed) 2. Thickness must in between min 1 to 1.5 inch max 3. Need to vacuum the sand bed every water change, so make sure your tank are at lease 2 ft, if not you will run out of water before finish vacuum the sandbed. 4. Every weekly water change Must add gravel cleaner bacteria supplement. 5. Pump connected to he under gravel filter must be strong or else you will having a stagnant water somewhere in the tank bottom sand and that will create hydrogen sulfate pocket. This type filter most practical if using it in the fish only tank because if you keep coral and you will add a lot live rock that will make the tank vacuum more difficult.
