  3. the head will most probably split or the new heads will emerge from the side just below the parent head. i doubt new growth will just come out of the stem.
  4. added this little guy in recently, seems to be a Chrysiptera oxycephala. doesn't seem too common to me and google didn't give much either. (not my photos) just love the blue head and how it fades in. my Chromis retrofasciata isn't being friendly at the moment but i hope it settles in soon. already feeding on frozen i still see my Belonepterygion fasciolatum so it must be getting its food somehow. pity the only was to see it was to set the flashlight on the tank in the middle of the night and catch a glance of it before it zooms away. the red tail is really stunning.
  5. so far the best results i had came when i swapped from pellets to an all frozen diet (mysis, brine, cyclopeeze, diy food etc) not related to feeding but i feel that fishes colour up more with respect to its environment. the more settled and suitable the tank is the better the colour will be. i find this true for many fishes like wrasses, angels or damsels. i had one damsel which only showed its true colours when i took out the other fishes and it became the king of the tank.
  6. if you just seen them not long then they should be hiding. there's nothing to be alarmed for fishes not to be seen. doesn't mean you add a fish into the tank means you'd get to see it 24/7. some fish just to hang out in the open as much as other fishes.
  7. possible and if knocked down too long into the sand the hammer may suffer damage. if you have glue or epoxy you could stick the hammer onto the rock facing up. no need to find holes or anything.
  8. lay them side by side? perhaps you may want to try facing them up towards the light. its more beneficial for the hammer this way. there is no harm putting them on the sand as long as the light is strong enough for them at the bottom.
  9. hey bro if you need help just let me know. i don't stay far from you pmed you my number.

  18. i followed the one on reefkeeping.com Test your systems NO3 and PO4 levels. Do not dose if you do not know this! We recommend good test kits that have some low level of sensitivity. This will be important later on to determining a maintenance dose regimen. During the initial dosing test often and adjust dosing parameters as needed as each tanks requirement will be different. Dosing accuracy is of the utmost importance. A graduated measurement tool such as a syringe will come in handy. A journal of additions and test kit measurements is recommended. Estimate your Net Water Volume (NWV) of your system. (Aquarium volume + sump + refugium + reactor volumes) (live rock displacement). It can be difficult to accurately measure the amount of water being displaced by the live rock. If unsure of the volume of live rock we suggest taking 30% off your display tanks Gross Water Volume. For vodka dosing there is absolutely no harm in underestimating the Net Water Volume and is recommended. As an example, let us assume that your setup contains 100 Net Gallons. The starting dosage is 0.1ml of vodka per 25 gallons (~100 liters) NWV daily continued for three days. For 100 Net Gallons, your dosage would be 0.4ml daily during this period. It has been suggested to cut the daily dosage in half and dose twice daily for more consistency. Days 4-7, double the daily dosage to 0.2ml of vodka per 25 gallons NWV. Your example dosage would be 0.8ml daily during this period. Each subsequent week add an additional 0.5ml of vodka regardless of aquaria volume. At this point your example dosage during week two would be 1.3ml daily. If you do not see nutrient levels decrease during this week, the following week add an additional 0.5ml for a daily dosage of 1.8ml daily. When your NO3 and PO4 levels start to drop maintain the current dose. For example, if you were on week two when NO3 start to fall on 100 Net Water Volume you would add 1.3mL daily at this time for the continuing weeks until the NO3 becomes undetectable. When your NO3 and PO4 levels drop near undetectable with your test kits cut your current dose in half. This will be your starting maintenance dose (if the levels drop during week 2 then the dose after reaching undetectable levels would be 0.65ml daily [1.3ml divide by 2]). Continue to test for NO3 and PO4. If levels become detectable in the future increase your daily dose by 0.1ml increments per week until the levels start to decrease. If you maintain that dose the levels will eventually drop back to undetectable. This would become your new maintenance dose. starting with 0.1ml i worked all the way for months till 5ml before hitting 0 nitrates. now its just 2.5ml daily for maintenance dosing. not sure about glen's vodka but from what i know "throughout 2008, the brand has been among several targeted by counterfeiters of fake spirits". glen's alcohol % of 35 / 37.5% also makes it harder to calculate dosing. i'm using smirnoff red 40%.
  19. a normal weipro wouldn't match to a bm definately, unless you mod it specially :heh:
  20. i remember seeing your chilli pepper and was thinking to myself "when will mine ever get to nice and big". sorry about your loss bro. i personally won't blame the vodka since i myself am a user. as long as the dosing schedule is followed there shouldn't be a problem. if it was really a vodka problem i think more corals will be affected and not just your particular monti. care to share what brand are you using?
  21. good review bro i don't wish to be a wet blanket but i think its good that it should be stated that this skimmer in almost 2 times underpowered (since its rated 25g) for your tank volume (>55g) thats why it is able to skim out as such. such skimmate would be easily removed in probably a much shorter time using an appropriate skimmer like your nac 5. when using a lower rated skimmer for a larger tank, sure one'd be able to see kopi-o daily which would lead to thinking that the skimmer is great in removing what it should but in fact the rate of removal may not be able to catch up to the what is being produced in the tank. so to all potential owners do reconsider before jumping in for this skimmer. just my 0.02, please don't take this the wrong way
  22. sorry bro i've work later. how's sunday? wish to go over and see yours too
