Coral reefs get cancers, too, and one of the most interesting of coral reef cancer stories is that of the crown of thorns starfish. The Crown of Thorns

3 males won't be peaceful shoaling group. maybe you could try 1 male with 2 smaller individuals who are still at the undeveloped male/female phase
-
something i've always wanted but couldn't achieve due to my small tank maybe it could work if you had 1 male with 2 females, or rather i think it should work. but personally i find it hard to find female wrasses though

not sure about the biodigest but a water change as mentioned would definitely help the bacteria bloom should not harm your tank unless it escalates to such a level that it deprives your inhabitants of oxygen mainly. in severe cases it may be good to drop a few airstones in to aerate the water.

wow nice gem! and a big one too! haven't seen an octo like this in a long time. up for you!
-
or you could go all t5 with an 8 or 10 bulb powermodule

hmm bro mind explaining what you meant by the readings are all different? its interesting to know how one drop more or less would affect the readings. does an extra drop give a higher reading? etc

up till now i've been following this haven't gave me any problems so far. perhaps the one on google are for the new batch of tests?

my first ever sps was a monti from wilson and its now still with me doing very well. i would say they are one of the easier sps to keep alive

How to increase coraline algae growth?
straydum replied to screamyourheartout's topic in General Reefkeeping_
yeap i think its a tube anemone too, and a nice one! i'm going to try dnsfpl's recipe for coraline see if it helps to boost growth. imo as long as phosphates are low and calcium is maintained together with good lights, coraline should grow -
i'm also thinking its a bacteria bloom. are you dosing any carbon sources bro? maybe you would like to do a water change just to be safe
-
i also feel that the pink one is a rbta a torch head shouldn't be so big and there should be multiple heads too. is that really an octo beside the zoas? it looks like an lps from iwarna that came in quite recently. i don't think its an octo if it really is that lps. more like a fatter polyp galaxy to me

just my 0.02 a 2' tube will not effectively illuminate a length of 2 feet. as you can see of a 24" fixture, towards the end the par drops rapidly and the length measured was only at 18". there's still the 3" on both sides unaccounted for. when you use a 2' fixture across 2.5' this would mean at the front and back of your tank there will be a quite wide an area that will not get proper lighting. there may still be light but it may not be enough to hold corals especially on the sand bed. for a 4' tube at least the par drops at both ends on the sides but the front (middle) of your tank would still be illuminated. when t5 are placed across the width i also find the different light colours from the different tubes to be quite obvious and visible even with reflectors. when i look at my tank side ways i can make out the blue, purple, and so on. its like the colours draw lines dividing the tank however when seen from the front all the colours are lined up against each other so we see a more or less uniform colour in the tank. i'm not sure whether this would happen in a larger tank with more tubes but just a heads up

yeap powdered form. you can try buying from iherb.com

i'm using sodium ascorbate

garlic supposedly boost your fishes appetite and is said to help build immunity in fishes. i'm not sure about garlic guard but there have been good reviews on Microbe-lift Garlic Enhance from what i heard. some people (like myself) use raw garlic and extract the juice to soak my foods in a cheaper alternative but may not be as effective as those concentrate products. vitamin c comes in a buffered form which you could check out. it won't change your pH, at least not to a dangerous extent
-
1 is probably a bristle worm which does more good than bad imo. you can leave it in your tank 4 looks intimidating reminds me of the pods that stick to my fishes. but i'm not sure whether in your case they are the same ones. 5 copepods! great food for fishes like dragonets, or wrasses

bro what do you mean by 0.1%? -
my take on vodka is that it works! if you have patience and time of course. it took me a few months to finally get my nitrates to stay at 0 however phosphates seem to take longer. vodka didn't seem to lower my phosphate level as effectively as rowaphos or phosban. there is a thread under the sps section on rc on brown sps revival. so far the general idea is that it either takes a long time to happen or it doesn't at all. however there are a few fine examples there from brown out colonies to drooling gems

love the flame wrasse pair! with them in an open top tank though i wouldn't dare

hello looking for the above please pm me the price, age and location!

ah i see now its silly that i didn't realise this earlier. your lightset is indeed T5NO not T5HO which would do fine even for your tank cause you're going fowlr. there's no need to change to a 39w set perhaps you could try 1 blue and 1 white to even out the colour which would be more than enough be it NO or HO. there's no need for actinics and all if you aren't focused on corals.

21w for a 3ft T5? T5s for 3 feet should be rated 39w per tube. in my opinion having 2 white tubes will wash out alot of the blue. since its a four tube set perhaps you would like to try Blue White Actinic Blue just my suggestion
