  1. I have done the water changes and carbon replacement and keeping my fingers crossed. I think the corals are stablised. Unfortunately, the mushrooms are gone...still deeply mystified. The zoos are opening up a little...so see how it goes. Thanks a lot to all!
  2. Hi Clownfish, In fact the tank has been up and running for 3 years, so I dun think its the NTS. I am unable to vouch for the accuracy of the measurements of the water parameters, but I dun think its way off. I've kept leathers, zoos and mushrooms b4 without much problem, so I think it must be something wrong in the tank. It is really fustrating at the rate they died off. There is also sufficient current for the leather (an additional pump). I will just wait and see, I guess. Thank you so much!
  3. Thanks all for all the advice! I have done the following: 1) do a partial water change to reinstate the water quality 2) throw out all the smelly (& of course dying corals). 3) monitor the position of the coral, in relation to their lighting requirements. All the corals which I bought are very healthy & i dun noe whether by putting all of them into the tank is the cause of the early demise. I feel so miserable..sigh..I do not add any other supplements to the tank. Talk about Murphy's Law...my MH bulb just burnt out, so need to get it replaced....
  4. Thanks all! My tank specs are as follows: 3 x 2 x 2, about 80 gallons (ISO tank) Lighting - MH and Actinic flouresecent Water specs: Ph - 8.2 CA - 410mg/L Nitrate - 0.05 Phosphate - 0 dKH - 8 Temp - 26 - 29 (i dun have a chiller) Specific Gravity - 1.023 My mushrooms are already wasting away.... The fella at the shop told me its OK to place all the corals at the same time, unlike fishes. Btw, the fishes are not affected (1 YT, 1 striped damsel, 1 maroon clown and a blue devil). Thanks a bunch!
  5. hi all, I bought 8 pieces of corals yesterday (3 leathers, 2 mushrooms and 3 zoos) and when I woke up this morning, the water was very cloudy and some of the mushrooms are dying...melted and bits are floating around. The leathers are droopy and waxy and the zoos are simply not opening. The place reeks! I've done partial water changes a few days ago and one yesterday, so the condition of the water shouldn't be that bad. PLEASE HELP! What should i do???
  6. Thanks. I thought all the disturbance will stress out the fishes.
  7. Hi there, I am thinking of adding more grade 0 sand to my existing tank with only about 1inch gravel. I know I may be pushing my luck, but can I leave the fish in the tank after I've added the additional sand? I have no coral at the moment but only LR & a yellow tang, a blue devil,a domino damsel, a maroon clown & a purple fire-fish. I intend to add to about 3 more inches. Any complication? My tank is 3 x 2 x 2 with an internal overflow unit. Thanks! Beaver
  8. Sad to announce that my clam cave in to stress & is now in the big clam tank in heaven
  9. Yah, its quite a big clam but the clown is not small either!! It used to laze ard the mantle of the claim & "sleep" on it, but the clam is fine wif it. Since it "penetrate" the clam, it shrunk & looks visibly disturbed....I guess its either the clam or clown
  10. My clownfish has taken a liking in snuggling into the "hole" of my clam & it is obviously stressed up. It even went into the clam at times! Help! What shud I do? Both are very dear to me
  11. Hi DragonGoby, thanx for ur great advice! I reckon u have a DSB. U encounter any problems.
  12. Other than the natural clean-up crew? Is that any effective mechanical method to clean the sand?
  13. Hi there, I have asked this question b4, but didn't really get an answer. Which is the best method to clean grade 0 sand that is already in tank for regular maintenance. The regular siphon wudn't do rite, cos the sand is so fine. Thanks!
  14. What kind of angel fish? My flame & french angel greedily accept frozen brine shrimp & mysrid shrimps...as well as spirunlina pellets.
  15. Dun wori abt it. My athias likes to hide initially but when food's in the tank, they will appear in feeding frenzy! Give it some time to get use to the environment
