Don't be dis-hearten everyone knows it not easy to maintain a marine tank initially..... but after mnths of stability it more or less like maintainace free.... somehow or rather depend on what u going to achieve and want A lot of us who reef more than 1yr knows this well....... If you felt cost is a matter try to keep it simple first like me Now no time to maintain so for my six footer is an FOWLR.. With that it like low maintainace cost top up with Di water only wkly with water parameter PO4 zero NO3 Zero PH 8.23-8.31 I clean my algae scrubber every 4 wks 1queen 12 cromis 8 damsel 2 gorby 1 flame hark 1 clown 1 tang 5 cardinal 1 midas unknown number of turbo snail keep on breeding 2 wrasse

How to increase coraline algae growth?
stevenkoh08 replied to screamyourheartout's topic in General Reefkeeping_
kawa is a good source for CA so there you coraline algae will glow... do not over dose as it'll cause spike in CA nvr the less you also need min requirer light source.... T5 will do the trick already and you need to seed it with some coraline as well if you don't... Do maintain as low PO4 as possible to have a good growth -
If you're for start i advise you to let it run the full cycle before do the dose... Unless after about 3wks you still getting sky high ammonia think about it on the market indeed there's a lot more product that said start up a tank in two days, yes indeed it control the initial bio system but in terms of long term goal with lesser cost it still nature that counts If you indeed need to start up fast yes do dose to control the ammonia spike and also dose the bacteria regularly, as any one point it drop or rise it cause your tank to crash easily. by maintaining the PH and KH also another challenge cause it'll up, down a lot during the state of start up of new tank.....

good buy bro

OK i'm not an expert of A/C but for the operation and system of component works i know some basic. 1.) An normal expansion valve even for car air-conditioning are the same, like wise they have a temperature sensing bulb that will automatically control the valve or gas that flow to the coil. 2.) An expansion valve needed is to let the gas from liquid state in high pressure to have a gas form in low pressure to create a chemist reaction 3.) It also preventing the coil from freezing into ice cube, as such once you face valve block this will happen.. What barraCuda said make sense it control the high pressure to the coil and not direct temp control.. at any point that's for mostly freezer usage and not our a/c nor chiller Why do you not allowing compressor to cut off?? by doing this it'll not save the working of compressor and save your pocket?? and most of all it produce more heat to ur ambient

bro i've 5 20L and 1 30L only if you want you can pm me
-
Agree with you bro... but if he can have ventilation for it he won't have the problem for that however he do need to hook it up above the sump area
-
bro over kill it ok and you do upgrade of tank with no equipment worries...
-
what equipment u intend to use mmm love to see more... need to ask you what below you rock seem like a mess plate???
-
you can try to implant a communication chip in me then ha ha
-
exp tells all
-
it fine to have with return and wavemaker to have 20
-
350L/h x 20 = 7000L/h
-
as bro limsc spoken is the amount of flow but if go up to 20x is the most optimum which u should achive after adding the other pump and connected to ur chiller
-
oh sorry it jalan bersah
-
u'll still need wave maker to circulate the main tank volume water no matter what as for the turn over rate for it just around 10-15 times not including wavemaker
-
ok bro you're looking for thermostat or expansion valve cause each serve different purpose. and what kind of thermostat you're looking for if it the one u looking for electrical shut valve for gas stop flowing though it? Or off the whole compressor unit??? Please list it down in more specific so we can help you from there.... By the way if you're looking for any Air-con refrigerant parts you may look for Far East refrigerant located at bras bersah after the lavender foodcourt near to the traffic light....

as as said according to calculation it requirer a 40mm pipe, but for more flow upwards you will create a heavier load and the water circulation downwards will be faster. and with that you can make use of it to T-off the down flow and use for gravity feeding for whatever you need also if not just leave it as it is, for sure it will work out... if a 16000L/H can work on a full open 30mm with about 1.4m long pipe and 1/2 to 3/4 open 30mm down flow why not it won't work on a 9000L/H flow rate
-
wow think if u keep it flow in 2 direction should be ok but do it on the water surface area
-
it ok bro u can choose to buy me a coke ha ha joking cause a reputation is earn
-
ok now this is something mis-understanding, both party also have their mistake. seller presume buyer stay TYP while he stay CCK that is seller wrong as you need to ask and confirm before you make arrangement with mover. And buyer if you've already got back the money then it shouldn't be speculate further than as both will still meet someday cheap doesn't means bad nor expensive means good, it'll depend on what u believe and what you want. I've a setup with a lot of DIY stuff and it works great till now moreover it doesn't cost much $$$ but consume time. So do respect each other no matter how much he may worth cause reefing should be an enjoyable hobby.

oh sure no problem i'm using 16000L/H with 2 x 30mm down flow and i feel i should increase the flow even further.
-
bro a good thing u should do is remove all ur coral chip for good and put in sand bed coral chip will trap a lot of toxic as u said like detrites and trap in the coral chip, when it break down it will release toxic back to ur tank whenever u disturb the bottom area.

for this it all depend... Firstly did he really mention the amount that both of you all agreed on? Secondly on what base he ask for another S$10 extra? Thirdly do you feel that it worth while for that increase? If he did mention the amount agreed on before you pass him the deposit than he have to bear with the consequence. and return the deposit if needed to. In another words if he willingly to let go to you on the same price as agreed earlier and you rejected then he's right to keep the deposit.

hi bro don't really get what u mean? Is it your return pump using 30mm pipe to the display tank or 30mm for the down flow to the sump? more over you need to state what is ur pump size as in G/H or L/H
