How To Keep an Moorish idol
onizukaa replied to kelvin70's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
bro, moorish idol need alot of swimming place and it's very hard to keep inside a tank. Have brought my first moorish idol last last sunday, it dont eat anything i fed (pellets/seaweed/flakes/brine & Mysis shrimp) soak in garlic guard / red bamboo / grapes. But it's still swimming around happily by pecking on the live rock (but it's getting skinner) Lemon have one successful moorish idol feeding on anything he threw in (e.g pellets) . Think it's better to stop trying if you tried a few times on the same species.. my 2 cents -

so sad, after 2 weeks, my moorish idol still dont eat pellets, only nipping at the life rock for algae but it's still swimming happily. Tried: 1) NLS - small / medium size 2) Mysis Shrimp 3) Red Bamboo 4) sea grape 5) Dr. Bassleer's Biofish Marine Flakes doesn't even take a look and it evades them like bombs.. Bro any suggestions ma~ haha have quarantine it and empty my sand bed leaving it empty to eat the pellet however it doesn't work for 2 days.

if you would like double filter, can try eheim hang on filter, it can filter out the water and "surface" skim haha
-
whats the flow of your tank design, as how does it flows from the main tank to the canister/sump? just to share, for my sump tank,i added fish, after that, the sump got oily surface, i added a hang on filter and that solves the issue.

lol. no wonder my fishes all no ick , temp between 28 on rainy day season without chiller and now highest 31 degree on hot hot hot day with t5 light on

Watch tonite's animal planet Ch.U 9pm
onizukaa replied to Underwater's topic in General Reefkeeping_
The prawn netting sucks totally, catching a few tiny prawns and killing so many others fishs/crabs/stingray. haiz..so cruel. + the dragging of the entire seabed to catch some fishes. Destroyed everything in it's path. human destroyed mother earth.. But the last part of the natural reserve perks me up~!. glad to see someone is helping to bring back the sea back to it's original state -

omg. so sad. did any 1 notice the fish wanting to eat the pen of the diver?lol.. hopefully more nature reserve is being setup as spawning ground and let them spawn!!!!! To those who use the cynaid (please dont use it anymore !!!) like dead city man. haiz. hopefully LFS in singapore dont import from suppliers who use that. -

i dont think anything can speed up as bacteria normally take 28 days to be FIGHTING FIT. Why not take time to prepare , slowly add it one by one.. 28 days later do the test and maybe you are good to go. Suffer abit and enjoy in the long run (or if you want fun now, you suffer more later). FOWLR or LPS / SPS. FOWLR i really recommend coralife salt .. super budget / good imho... 6 red and 1 green can get you 25 KG (1 tub with 3 packets) else can get iwarna to deliver it to you... Bro, tahan and tahan, you will enjoy it in the long run.. trust me

bro, really really hope that you can treat all fishes/coral like human if possible, it's really really sad that the clown is not doing well, however, you can isolate it in a container with sea water and put a bubble or something (at least try before flushing down the toilet bowl) it's really sad to hear that. Let us know your budget and maybe you can post pictures of your current setup (full tank shot) so that we can see what's missing. Hopefully everything goes smooth for you! and maybe in the meantime you can buy packet of salt to change water regulary (1 week 20%) or you can buy directly for shops (natural sea water) if you find it a burden to do salt mix.
