Original price = $48.80 Special price = Below $48.80 and include delivery! Natures Ocean Live Aragonite Black Sand - 20lb bag Below is the info. • Artificially adding bacteria (or cultured bacteria) does not make the same biofilm. It is not as efficient as the biofilm found on sand in the ocean which have been naturally selected through millions of years of evolution. • All bacteria on Nature’s Ocean® Bio-Activ Live™ Aragonite are preserved in their natural live state using a patented process and a patented saltwater enrichment solution QX-23™. • Nature’s Ocean® Bio-Activ Live™ Aragonite is guaranteed to contain more than 200 million live bacteria per pound of sand in a natural biofilm, ready to instantly start the cycling process and stabilize your tank. • Contains live marine autotrophic bacteria to provide proper inorganic chemical balance. • Contains live chemolithotropic bacteria. • Prevents biofouling. • Immediately removes nitrogenous waste (Ammonia, Nitrite and helps remove Nitrate). • Instant Cycling guaranteed. Beneficial Characteristics of Aragonite • Reduces harmful nitrate • Maintains proper pH • Provides enhanced buffering capacity • Provides essential inorganic elements such as strontium, cobalt, zinc and molybdenum • Approximately 0.5 - 1.7mm diameter grain size (Ideal for reef system tank bottoms) Essential Trace Elements Provided by Bio-Activ Live® Aragonite Zinc Sulphate, Calcium Chloride, Manganese Chloride, Cobalt Chloride, Copper Sulphate, Sodium Molybdate, Strontium Chloride, Nickel Chloride, Potassium Bromide, Sodium Silicate. Rapid Cycling of Organic Compounds in the Newly Established Aquarium: In the beginning of a newly established aquarium, waste products can quickly build up to toxic levels. Introducing fish, plants, and food to your aquarium begins a natural process called “Biochemical Cycling†which is exemplified by the nitrogen cycle. The process begins when fish and invertebrates excrete waste which is added to the ammonia produced by decaying food and organic compounds. The more sources of fish waste, the quicker and greater the ammonia problem. Harmful ammonia and nitrite are constantly converted into less harmful nitrates, which in turn is used by plants and algae for food. An aquarium is full of both autotrophic and heterotrophic bacteria that want nothing more than to attach, grow, and form BIOFILMS where the bacteria convert toxic nitrogenous compounds and ammonia into harmless products. Nature provides many types of bacteria that in the presence of oxygen carry out the oxidation of ammonia to nitrites and eventually to nitrates in a process known as nitrification. First, bacteria settle on aragonite (reef sand) where they grow into colonies and eventually form a BIOFILM. Marine nitrifying bacteria in the biofilm oxidize ammonia to nitrite. Then other bacterial species further oxidize nitrite to nitrate. Nitrate not utilized by plants is removed by other bacteria in the absence of oxygen (the anaerobic environment found in the lower levels of the sediment) in a process called denitrification. These bacteria are not harmful and are quite abundant in nature. However, three conditions are required for this process to occur: A surface upon which bacteria can attach, grow, and form BIOFILM Ammonia as the substrate to start the process. An aerobic environment. "Cycling" Your Tank When you start a new aquarium with dry sand or gravel, colonies or beneficial bacteria have not yet had the chance to attach to a surface and grow. For a period of several weeks this presents a very hazardous environment for your fish. One has to gradually build up the source of ammonia (i.e., start with only one or two small fish) to allow time for the beneficial bacteria to grow and form a BIOFILM. Now with Nature’s Ocean Bio-Activ ™ Live Aragonite Reef Sand, there is no waiting period or delay while waiting for bacteria to establish themselves. Both autotrophic and heterotrophic bacteria required for rapid cycling of the aquarium are already in their natural state - a BIOFILM on the sand particles. Nature’s Ocean Bio-Activ ™ Live Aragonite Reef Sand is fortified with a patented enrichment solution, QX-23 ™ , which keeps the bacteria alive, primed and ready to cycle harmful metabolic endproducts the moment it is added to your aquarium. Each pound of Nature’s Ocean Bio-Activ ™ Live Aragonite Reef Sand contains more than 200 million live bacteria in naturally-formed biofilms ready to biochemically cycle your aquarium and rapidly provide a healthy environment. For Best Results Use as Follows: • Use a minimum of 1 pound of Bio-Activ Live™ Aragonite per gallon of salt water. • Setup filtering system and allow it to circulate. • During the first month, introduce no more than 1 inch of fish per 5 gallon of salt water. Premium Live® Aragonite Reef Sand • Collected in its natural environment and packaged in its natural state (U.S. Patent #'s: 6,376,299 & 6,939,708) • Just place in tank, add saltwater (for best results use NutriSeawater®) the add fish, no waiting required. • Instant ammonia cycling • Perfect for most applications (except Undergravel filters) • Reduces algae growth • Sandsifter safe • Digger friendly • Deep sand bed Grain size: 0.5-1.5mm

Magnesium is present in natural sea water in a fairly high concentration (1350 - 1500 mg/L) and is an essential element of chlorophyll which is necessary for photosynthesis. Without photosynthesis plants, algae and coral would not be able to survive. Magnesium also helps to maintain the correct combination of calcium concentration and alkalinity as it slows down the formation of calcium carbonate which can absorb many important trace elements within the aquarium. Maintaining a correct magnesium concentration is therefore very important and is indirectly responsible for fast coral and calcareous algae growth by making it possible to maintain correct calcium and alkalinity figures. Magnesium is depleted by algae growth and also by the use of excessive kalkwasser or by going far beyond natural calcium, alkalinity and pH values. The Salifert Magnesium Profi-Test is easy to use and accurate with measurements in steps of 30 mg/L. Results are not affected by strontium and calcium interference. Can be used for marine water only. Calcium and strontium will not interfere when their total concentration is between 200 and 650 ppm. This is mostly the case. Up to 50 tests. Warning! Keep out of reach of children. Not for consumption. INSTRUCTIONS for usage This is a new version and reagents from previous versions in which 3ml sample had to be used can no longer be used with this version! 1) Add with the 2ml syringe 2ml of water to the test vial. 2) Add 6 drops of Mg-1 and swirl gently for 30 seconds. 3) Add one spoon of Mg-2 powder (spoon inside) to the test vial and swirl for 10seconds. 4) Place the plastic tip firmly on the 1ml syringe and draw into this Mg-3 reagent until the lower end of the black syringe part is at the 1.00ml mark. Ensure that during this that the plastic tip is submersed in the Mg-3 reagent to avoid that air bubbles are withdrawn instead of liquid. An air layer between the liquid and the piston is normal. This is the air which was present between the end of the tip and the piston, this will not influence the result. 5) Start adding the Mg-3 reagent with the 1ml syringe to the test vial until the colour changes to gray or blue (whichever colour is observed first). Do this drop wise and swirl after each drop for a second or two. 6) Hold the syringe with the tip facing upwards and the position of the upper end of the black syringe part. Each divisions corresponds 0.01ml. The magnesium concentration can be obtained from the table or by use of the following equation: ppm Mg = (1 - reading step6) x 1500 Natural seawater has a magnesium concentration of approx. 1300 - 1500 ppm. The concentration varies with salinity. Too low magnesium concentrarion makes maintaining correct calcium and alkalinity concentration difficult. Magnesium concentration can be increased with Salifert's magnesium.

i think it depends whether what type of flow do you want for your tank. Hydor - Wide random flow [not that strong] Tunze - 1 straight ahead direction steady flow
-
bro, shipment of the blacksand should be coming this week. however think will buy one packet for myself. haha, will dump the remaining to my 5feet refug. nice tank you have there!
-
wow bro, i love the scape especially the bridge with green things on it, mushroom?
-
be careful in adding new wrasse and gobies after your 6line is old bird. all the best bro!
-
i think koran angel [juv. before adult] is very very agressive too, got my koran, chased the new fishes like anything =.= maybe it depend on the indivual character, my coral beauty is very very very shy
-
the 6 line wrasse killed few of my goby causing them to jump out and die =.=. they are super aggressive after maturing in the tank.

Hydor K2 - $70 (with warranty) Tunze 6045 - $80 (without warranty however still working with good flow) Self collect west and pm me to deal.
