WTS: Live Rock (Coral Farm + Iwarna)
illumnae replied to illumnae's topic in Sell off/Pasar Malam Shop
$60 for the lot if you can collect before Wed. -
Looking to sell off all my live rock as I'm decomming my tank. Should be about 20-30kg (not certain exactly how much there is). WYSIWYG from the picture below. Rocks are a mix from Coral Farm and Iwarna, so the quality is there. Nice and interesting shapes. Collection is at my place at Bt Merah ABC Market (behind IKEA and opposite Queensway Shopping Centre), looking to let go of the lot at $65. Please bring your own manpower and bags/tubs for collection. Picture of them scaped in my 322:

Best lights set for OF 34L tank with corals
illumnae replied to Patrick's topic in Members Tank & Specs
Upgraded from Beams work 6x 3w to razor nano last week. Definitely razor nano hands down -
Phosguard is actually very effective in removing phosphate.

At 2800L/hr it may be too strong. I almost got a 6015 (1800L/hr) for my OF 34L nano, but ended up getting a hydor koralia nano (900L/hr) instead. The hydor plus stock pump give good flow throughout

OF nano tank and redsea pro hang-on skimmer
illumnae replied to Patrick's topic in Members Tank & Specs
Would it fit? I'm using the bubble magus e3 on my OF 34L nano and it hangs just right over the back sump compartment. The red sea may be too wide -
Is the power source OK for one ordered from amazon? US uses 110v

Hi all, it's ok. I'm not trying to stir up any trouble here, but just pointing out my experiences with this ridiculous buyer, who seems to have problems with other sellers too. veronica, I gave you one final chance to collect on Wednesday since it's a public holiday, and what was your response? "Dunno if my dad working or not". I told you you could take cab, bus or mrt and your response again? "Cab very ex!". Then I told you if you wanted me to keep it for you any longer it would have to be at your risk because I'm doing you a favour by holding it so long, I should not be the one exposed to the risk in case anything happens (If you recall, I gave you the example of power failure happen at my house while endlessly waiting for you to collect and coral die how?). It's not fair to me since I have other buyers interested in getting the corals, but I reserved them for you for what was supposed to be only 2 weeks out of goodwill. You just kept making excuses and going "wah how can?", at which point I was sick of your procrastination and unreasonableness and told you I was no longer willing to sell it to you. Only after I told you I didn't want to sell it to you anymore, then you kept starting to pester me to say you wanted to collect it to Wednesday. All I can say is too bad, you've pushed me to the point where I'd rather keep the coral or throw it away than to sell it to a ridiculous buyer such as you. You are the most self centred and irresponsible person I have had the misfortune of encountering, and by far the worst buyer I have ever met on any forum that I have participated in. Please feel free to screencap and show the whatsapp conversation in its entirety if you wish, it will just verify what I said above. Sorry everyone for the drama on this thread. Mods please feel free to delete all inappropriate posts. I was just trying to highlight a problematic buyer so others can be careful when dealing with her. Is it possible for this thread to be closed for now? I will post another sales thread with the remaining corals at a later date when the fuss has died down.

Orca Nitra Guard Bio Cube - A New Way of Carbon Dosing?
illumnae replied to Gouldian's topic in Product Reviews
Looking forward to updates on this! If it works in freshwater I'm definitely interested to get them for my freshwater tanks too -
What carbon source and bacteria product are you using sis?

Frogspawn reserved by bro davechee

Hammer, frogspawn and elegance available. Veronica is the most ridiculous buyer ever. Ask me to hold for her for 2 weeks, but 3 weeks later still refuse to commit to collection. But still want me to keep holding for her indefinitely with no deposit and at my risk. Ridiculous. Sellers beware when dealing with her in future.

My new toy!

How would you say the Polyplab series compares to using Biopellets and Rowaphos in reactors? Would I be able to go without the reactors at all if I just dose Polyplab series from day 1 of tank setup and overskim the tank?

Thanks iskay! Yup I went to prod it with tweezers and it retracted the covering, showing the "proper" cowrie shell -
Help ID-ing this hitch hiker
illumnae replied to illumnae's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
I thought cowrie have hard and shiny shells? This one looks soft and fuzzy -
Have you tried contacting Aquafauna Supplies, a sponsor here? I got my Hanna checkers and top up reagent packs from him. See:

Help ID-ing this hitch hiker
illumnae replied to illumnae's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
View from the outside. Looks like some kind of snail/slug? But the "shell" looks soft... -
This hitch hiker suddenly appeared in my tank and I have no clue what it is. Can anyone help ID?

Orca Nitra Guard Bio Cube - A New Way of Carbon Dosing?
illumnae replied to Gouldian's topic in Product Reviews
A few things in the Fresh n Marine description I don't really get: "Bacteria consume the high carbohydrate food source found in the BIO-cubes...." - so is it Cyborg yeast + titanium, or is it bacteria with carbon source? "The biomass is then skimmed out with a protein skimmer or is consumed as a food source by corals and clams..." - it's claimed to be usable in both fresh and marine environments. So what do freshwater hobbyists do to get rid of the biomass? "For heavily stocked tanks, use 3ml to every 1 litre of aquarium water and for aquariums with lighter stock loads, add 3 to 4 ml to every 1 litre of aquarium water." - so for heavily stocked tanks, you use the same or less than lightly stocked tanks? -
I replenish elements by doing 30% wc every 2 weeks. I also dose Prodibio Nano Reef kit every 2 weeks after wc (which includes Biodigest, Bioptim, Iodine and Strontium. I leave out Reef Booster as it makes my skimmer go crazy). Perhaps I should dose trace elements? I was recommended TLF SeaElements by Ken@Madpetz. In terms of health of other light loving invertebrates, the ricordea are doing well, and my bird of paradise and jade green digitata survive (but polyps are very clearly brown) The pink birdsnest is showing pale pink nicely in the area of brighter light, but shaded portion is very brown. Hence, overall I think I may need more light (though I still don't understand why the anemone was fine for 2+ months under current lighting). I guess it could be the stress from the shrimps that caused it to vomit out all its zooxanthellae and bleach. I have ordered a set of Maxspect Razor Nano which will arrive in 2 weeks. Hopefully I'll be able to be successful with the anemone and SPS with the new lighting.

I'm having a bleaching issue with my RBTA that I bought sometime in January this year. Initially it was great for 2+ months, retaining its original colouration of deep red till early March. This is the colour that it was: However, as I had a mild aiptasia breakout, I bought 3 peppermint shrimp and added them to the tank. After the shrimp cleared out the aiptasia, they turned on my anemone and started bullying it instead. They stole food from it, and even when there was no food they wouldn't stop picking on it. It came to a point where the anemone was constantly shrivelled up and even took a hike around the tank, though it eventually went back to its original spot. I have since trapped out and sold the shrimp, but since then, the anemone has lost its colour and bleached out. It now looks like this: Is my anemone now bleached because of lack of light? Or some other reason? For reference, it is currently placed at the top of the rockwork, 10-15cm below the surface and the light I'm using is the Beamswork 6x 3W led set (2 blue and 4 white). It is positioned almost directly under the 2 blue lights, but due to the led spread it is receiving white light as well. If it is lack of light, how come it spent 2+ months fine with the deep red colour and only start bleaching after the shrimp bullied it? Some people have suggested too much light...but again, how come it was fine with the lighting previously and only changed when the shrimp bullied it? I feed it 1-2 times weekly with mysis or chopped up mussel and it always accepts the food (except for the brief period it was shrivelled up due to shrimp bullying). Just fed it today in fact. Do I need to feed it more or increase/decrease my lighting in order to restore it to its former deep red colour? Having problems finding a suitable light set for this tank due to the lack of clamp on options. Only option now for a better light seems to be the Mazerra Razor nano, but I missed out the 10% offer period already
