Beamswork LED good enough for what specimens of SPS
illumnae replied to Patrick's topic in SPS and Advanced Reefkeepers Forum
Even the 3W beamswork set is not sufficient. I used it and my sps all turned brown. Upgraded to the Razor Nano and colours started showing. -

This weekend I'll be restarting my 322. Since I decided to upgrade to a bigger sump, I figured I would just reboot my entire tank, which was getting algae problems. Gave away all my live rock and will be throwing away all my old sand. My new sump will be delivered this weekend and the tank will be cleaned and filled with new live sand and live rock. Intend to seed bacteria from Prodibio and MicroBacter7 during the cycling process. I intend to use the Polyplab system to reduce nutrients in the tank, and eventually start Grotech ABC+M after a few months when I start stocking corals. I have a few queries on my setup: (a) When should I start dosing the Polyplab system? During the cycle from day 1? Or only after I start putting in fish and corals? ( Do I need to run anything else in a reactor on my system? Would it be beneficial to run biopellets and rowaphos in addition to the Polyplab system? How about GAC? © The new sump design comes with a refugium. What should I be putting in my refugium if I want to be mainly cultivating pods for Mandarins? I read on reef central that for pod culture, just live rock rubble is sufficient. However, elsewhere it states I should also have a DSB and chaeto. Other places also recommend Miracle Mud or similar substrate products. With the Polyplab system in place, what's good to put in the refugium? (d) Keeping the above in mind, is the Polyplab system still necessary for me? Would refugium alone or refugium + biopellets work better to keep my nutrients ultra low? Thanks in advance for your advice!

I'm decommissioning my office Nano and have the following equipment to sell. All equipment is pretty new and definitely in good working condition. 1. Maxspect Razor Nano 60W 16000K light. Only about 1+ month old, practically brand new. Collected from Razali at the end of April 2013. Box and packaging still available if buyer wants. Retail price is S$390 for a set that probably came in the same shipment as this set. Looking to sell at $320. 2. Hydor Koralia Nano. Purchased in January 2013, so only about 6 months old. Will scrub as much algae/coralline off it as possible prior to sale. Looking to sell at $40. 3. Bubble Magus e3 HOB skimmer. Purchased in December 2012 or January 2013, about 6-7 months old. Extremely efficient skimmer, produces dark brown skimmate on my 34L OF Nano. Fits perfectly at the back IOS compartment of the OF Nano series. Rated for 100-300L, so it's the perfect skimmer for all nano tanks that do not have a sump (since it is a simple non-intrusive HOB). Still using it now on my QT tank. Looking to sell at $100. 4. Beamworks 6x 3W (4 white 2 blue) LED Clip-On light. Can't recall when I purchased it, but it should be 6 months or less based on memory. Nonetheless, still in perfect working condition. Still using it now on my QT tank. Perfect for nanos that don't require super intensive lighting for SPS. Used it to keep LPS and softies in my OF Nano perfectly fine. Looking to sell at $40. I have used the above items in conjunction (except the 2 lights which were used in succession) with great success in my Nano. Those looking to set up a new nano can get items 1-3 or 2-4 in a single package and your nano is already almost complete! Collection will be at Bt Merah area (ABC Market) opposite Alexandra Village and Queensway Shopping Centre, behind IKEA; or any other location at my convenience to be discussed (generally we can arrange for locations such as Madpetz, Iwarna or Marine Life at mutually convenient times - NOT delivery to your house unless perhaps you're buying all the items!). Discounts can be discussed for purchases of multiple items from the list. PM to discuss.

I use mysis and chopped up mussels/prawns. I think pellets may end up being either to small or too hard for them.
-
Best to check with n30 for pricing.
-
Hi bro, I don't have pics to post of the skimmer, but I hang it at the back of the tank in the IOS compartment.
-
It's weeyang the tank maker who now sells accessories as well. http://www.n30.com.sg/ the Nano Osmolator is not on the website, but you can sms him to arrange collection.

Ken didn't have stock as of last week. I got mine from n30. The usual ones who stock it are Madpetz, Marine Life, n30 and of course Reef Depot itself. I bought mine last week and just set it up yesterday. Feels good coming into office today and not having to top up the tank Will be installing a fan soon.

Using BM e3 on my OF Nano Space 34L and it works well. Lots of muck skimmed out even with 15% weekly wc and weekly bacterial/carbon dosing

The bigger model? I tried out the smaller model at JZX and it barely had any wind!

Thanks for your expert advice everyone! Unfortunately compressor cooling won't be an option for me. I note most of the mini chillers available are already as big as my tank! I can't fit that into my office. I also am afraid of the risk of external hoses accidentally disconnecting and flooding the office. I'll try the Sunon fan recommended by bro peacemaker for now.

Thanks for the advice. My tank is the Ocean Free 34L Nano, which is just slightly larger than a 1 ft cube. I did read reviews about the ice probe being useless above 10 gallons volume, but I figured my tank is just below 10 gallons so the ice probe would work fine. Reason I chose the ice probe is that the tank is located on my office desk, thus making space a huge constraint especially since I already have a HOB skimmer and ATO on the tank. The Resun mini chiller and the linked CSXC ones both require a pump and an external place to put the chiller, vs just using eggcrate to mount the ice probe onto one of the IOS compartments. Price of the CSXC is also similar to the ice probe + temperature controller. My office is air conditioned (but temp not set to very cold la), with the air con switched off during the weekends, but as the place is enclosed and my desk not near the window, the temp doesn't go up as much, so the ice probe won't have as much issue lowering the temperature as compared to a tank in a normal room near a window. I guess my only other option is to use a fan, but I'm not really sure which fan would be good enough to lower the temperature by 2-3 degrees in my tank. I have an ATO so topping up water isn't that troublesome.

Anyone have any idea why suppliers stopped bringing Iceprobe into the local market? I'm looking for one for my Ocean Free Nano, but am unable to find one locally. if I ship in from the US, is there a concern about power supply (i.e. do I need to buy a 240v - 110v transformer?) or do they supply universal power supply like most modern appliances?

Equipment wise I usually get from madpetz or delightings

WTS: Live Rock (Coral Farm + Iwarna)
illumnae replied to illumnae's topic in Sell off/Pasar Malam Shop
After some consideration, I have decided to give the live rock away FOC. I reserve the right to choose who I give the rocks to, but preference will be given to those who can collect earlier. The guy who tried to lowball me need not apply.
