  1. i want this book. it features rare fishes in the area such as this litus butterfly!
  2. Dr. Tanaka lives in miyazaki, and these are some of the fishes that can be easily caught from the surrounding waters. a juvenile blueline angel and a wiebeli butterflyfish. the wiebeli butterfly lives in deeper water and was caught with a line and hook. the juvenile blueline, only a small hand net near the surface! other interesting fishes that live near the surface in waters of miyazaki includes the very nice Meiacanthus kamoharai!
  3. priolepis nocturna. some call it white tiger, full moon, nocturnal goby.
  4. yes it does! there's a whitecap goby in the same photo too. both are black with a white cap from the head to tail dorsally. but cryptocentrus is longer in shape and is the same genus as the yellow watchman goby
  5. my favourite fairy wrasse of all time. Marjorie's fairy wrasse in the wild. this is the male. rare in the trade but common in the reefs of Fiji. there used to be an influx of them for a couple of months but then they stopped coming in all together.
  6. ah i think that firefish is extremely unique and am very interested since the first day you bought it! if it's still available, i want it. PMed you awhile ago
  7. another groucho lemonpeel for sale. gorgeous. i really want one! a variant of a hybrid. that's how the groucho arise and that's how uncommon it is.
  8. it's been awhile since i last saw these for sale. M. cf alleni. there exists a rarer nicer colour form of blue and yellow. perhaps the male form of this species. i'm not very good with dottybacks. highly territorial. i've kept them once and it was quite a pain.
  9. here's the cryptocentrus goby that came from Johan's shipment. C. leucostictus. very rare here in singapore and elsewhere in the world, but i don't know exactly how rare it is in the wild. unfortunately it died shortly after arriving from the shipment, but the rest of the fishes in that particular shipment are well. here's the photo that i took and wrote in Reefbuilders. there's also a lotilia graciliosa in the same photo. digi, how much are the japanese selling the cryptocentrus?
  10. Don't they have a facility in rhinelander? yes i agree that there are some items that have been named wrongly before both scientific names and common names. as well as the location that they are caught from probably. i've never ordered from them before as they do not ship outside of the U.S, but based on customer feedback on many platforms, it's probably one of the best handlers and dealers in the trade in the U.S there's also no denying the professionalism and quality of the livestock that are actually put out for sale by Kevin Kohen.
  11. mismatched pair of angels by liveaquaria. i think it's a mistake. the male is a melanospilos but a female caudovittatus.
  12. i think maybe like the silver xanthurum copps posted before.
  13. ive seen many aberrant scopas and mimic tangs coming out of philippines but never heard of the one you just described. sounds very cool!
  14. only one video of it ever documented and a few pictures. it's still undescribed. not found in the trade yet. but it's related to the grissingeri goby and it's tiny.
  15. yah that's the cocos island lemonpeel from the indian ocean. the eye does not have a blue eye ring. instead, it has a blue iris. normal lemonpeels from pacific have black iris but a blue eye ring. don't know if the genetics are the same or not.
  16. semifasciatus angels are not rare in the wild but as mentioned above, ship badly due to improper collection. it's been so many year since i last saw them for sale and seeing a pair for sale now is still exciting. some of you might remember the semifasciatus x melanospilos hybrid from copps quite awhile back. howevere there's been no update on this fish and i'm quite interested in it's development. wonder what the male form of the hybrid will look like.
  17. tony is very happy with his trio of female semifasciatus angels now after waiting for so many years. the feeling of obtaining something you've been looking for for so long is exhilirating. that's how i felt too when i found my lone female from coral farm. here's another happy reefer unbagging his pair of semifasciatus angels. photo was taken 3 years ago though.
  18. remember the 8 semifasciatus angels? here's 2 of 3 in tony vargas' tank! gorgeous
  19. the blue ring around the spot is aberrated and not a proper circle. probably coz it's a hybrid that's why. aberrant traits. the spot goes away when the fish is extremely small. it should not last till this size.
