  1. No experience with a hawk, but i did manage to catch my damsel out using this trick. It is almost 100% guaranteed to work, as shared to me by a fellow reefer, HOWEVER, bear in mind that this technique is VERY VERY stressful to other fishes in ur tank. But if they are healthy to begin with, they will quickly recover =) Start by turning off all the lights in ur house to stimulate sleeping time. Identify where ur fish sleeps, then prepare to catch it. By placing ur net near the sleeping fish (not directly infront of it, otherwise u will scare it and it will hide), faster turn on the aquarium lights to temporarily stun the fishes. Ur fish will be disorientated for awhile, and this is a very good time to catch it. if its in a rock, u can gently use a stick (i use satay stick) to coax it out of the rock into open water, and faster scoop the fish out, and turn off the lights to prevent any more stress to other fishes. I did this on my damsel and its enjoying its life in my sump. I cant believe i wasted $5 on the damn damselfish -.- Hope this method helps u, it almost always works, but try to do it as a last resort. very stressful
  2. Btw, Magnifica anemones require VERY large tank quaters, as they move alot. Here is a very useful link explaining to you EVERYTHING u need to know about Heteractis magnifica. Hope it helps u =) http://www.wetwebmedia.com/marine/inverts/...etmagnifica.htm
  3. Magnifica anemones are usually rather large, if small, they will grow large. Most magnificas ive seen have coloured stems, usually purple / reddish-brown, tentacles are longish, usually green brown. Rather uncommon, from my own experience, donno about u all, usually LFS/LFF sell BTA or haitian, or the normal anemones. Magnificas are very hard to keep..... go for a BTA. Much easier... hope this helps
  4. Sea horses usually kept in their own special sea horse tank right? they need very gentle water movements, no harmful corals, and aggresive fishes from what i've heard..... I know someone who keeps his seahorse in his sump tank -.-
  5. Hmm... I know for sure porcelain crabs have BOTH claws, AND the feather like appendages, so it is possible that the crab took a bite of ur prawn =) Perhaps filter feeding wasnt enough for this greedy guy hehe.
  6. I took out the damn rock..... and soak it in fresh water. bo pian lor. stupid thing... summore the rock is a base rock.. take it out, my whole rock work collapse. had to re-scape T_T. now the pistol living its sad life in the sump, with my damsel fish

  8. Thanks. My first encounter with fish birth. really excited ^^
  9. Ty, I finally removed my annoying damsel fish tonight... It was harrasing everything in my tank. Even my trigger -.- Now suffering inside a small beta box!. I hope my removal of my damselfish did not cause too much stress to my banggais... Hopefully the eggs are still alright!
  10. Well, royal gramma cost more than most normal fishes, so far, those that i have purchased. Compared to a pair of clowns i bought from #####, at $15. So, yea $20 is reasonable, im just saying compared to other fishses i buy, it is more "expensive". Sorry if i have described wrongly. haha. cheers! =)
  11. Is it still available? If its not available, please tell me, i really interested in this =) Willing to pay..
  12. 30-40? Wow, for a gramma, that hardly seems cheap, as u know, royal grammas are fairly common and are a staple in many aquariums. But some how, they are quite rare in SG? i only managed to find ONE shop selling it. LCK there. Perhaps ur right, 20 is quite reasonable ^^ My gramma is very lovely, and $20 is a small price to pay for a nice fish now that u mention it
  13. I am so happy to announce that after one month, my banggai cardinalfish have produced eggs!! The male stopped eating and his jaw has increased in size. Also, when he opens his mouth for a stretch, i can see the small eggs inside. I dont have a picture because it is very hard to capture, as they hide behind the live rocks most of the time. I just wanna know, is it easy to catch out the babies once the father releases them? 1)Wont the babies swim away when i put the net inside the tank? 2)Wont the parents protect the babies? 3)I'm afraid the babies will be eaten up by my trigger fish. So far, my trigger is small, about 3", and is very docile, never bully anything, but i cannot guarantee after the baby fish arrive 4)I dont have a separate tank to house the babies in, as i was kinda suprised by this myself. I thought my 2 cardinals were males, as they occasionally chase each other. seemed very aggressive, however, they got used to each other and have mated. Proving my assumption of both being males, wrong. Thus, my final question is, is it ok to put the babies in a betta box? Attached to the top of my tank. TY
