  1. haha. i think anemones are problematic in a sense that they like to move around, causing all the weird deaths scenarios. theyw grow fast also, and can expand very big =(
  2. thanks! last time jr marine selling one for 0.1 red note -__- each!! they were clearing stock and so cheap. but i din buy coz last time i din like them...now they starting to grow on me and they are such wonderful schooling fishes, and veyr hardy too! my tank now got abit of ich, i think if i put them in they wun die la. like my damsel and my cardinals and my clowns. completely not affected by ich.
  3. ok. few things u should know before buying any of the fishes u listed. Semilarvatus or golden butterfly can grow quite big, so u might need to consider the size of ur tank. Other than the size, they are very hardy. but abit pricey. have seen it in sealife, iwarna and ahbeng shop. they are seasonal and come with the red-sea shipment as they are only found in the red sea and gulf of aden. chaetodon melannotus, sometime sknown as the blackback butterfly, is hardy and will not grow too big. only problem is that its not commonly found, so far have only seen it 2 times. auriga butterfly, also known more commonly as threadfin butterfly, is very hardy and also will not grow too big. this one is more common and easier to find. saddleback butterfly is very hardy also, but they can grow very big. maximum 9". Genarally, if u find a butterflyfish that is feeding well, active, no sign of disease, they are actually not very hard to look after. although, there are some species that u should avoid totally because they eat either only corals, or they are just too hard to keep. if u see any LFS selling ornate butterfly, melon butterfly, chevron butterfly, bennet butterfly, try not to buy coz they are not very hardy, and some only eat coral polyps. those that u listed are quite hardy, except some may grow too big u might also wanna try raccoon butterfly, very hardy also. HTH
  4. u can get ATI lights. lost of places sell. i bought mine from henry at ML
  5. haha. dun worry. when i was new to all the LFS in sg, i also always go when it closing time. mondays JR not open, tuesday reborn not open. certain times of the week, the LFS got diff opening and closing hrs, like marinelife. Best is find out if its open b4 going. Anyway, went to reborn today, got nothing. 97% of the tanks are empty. only saw 1 threadfin butterfly, 3 kleins butterfly, 2 small chromis, some assorted damsels, and alot of foxface. thats all. to be honest, most of the fishes dont look too good. i guess they clearing stock for tomorrow? heard from smewhere reborn got sipment tmr. i know marine life tmr got shipment also. aquamarine tanjong katong, nothing also. fish wise, only damsels and yellow clown goby. corals, some bubble..TONS of starfish...some snowflake eels. crocea clams at 2.5 red notes each, and maximas at 3.8 red notes.
  6. just a question. can clams be kept with T5? or only MH...seems like u all use MH.
  7. should be no problem. i think this kind of warfare only happen between certain types of anemones. i read before on wetwebmedia an article posted by bob frenner. but i dunno what 2 kinds of anemones.. its those rarely happen kinds la haha! special scenario. those anemones also seldom encountern here. condilyctus i think... anyway, dun worry la. almost all corals can put together except just dont let them touch can liao. if there is indeed a warfare, u can tell immediately. ur corals all wont be blooming so nicely if such a case happens
  8. ur zoas are simply amazing. some of them i have never before seen! REALLY FANTASTIC! thumbs up! One of the best zoas i have seen here on this forum, besides ming's, peacemaker, and some other zoa keepers. would just like to comment that ur rockscape abit too dense. but i like how u fit all the corals and clams so nicely. ur zoos are fantastic....my dream is to keep zoos too. but they all die in my hands haha! btw, notice ur clowns have alot of black spots. isit coz they host ur zoas? have heard stories tht clowns hosting corals will develop black patches/spots. they are not harmful, but just unique
  9. sometimes, no matter how far apart, as long as they are in a certian body of water in an enclosed space, chemical warfare can still happen. instead of physically attacking each other, harmful chemicals can still be sent out to stunt/hurt growth of other corals. But this happens only to certain and specific species of corals, am quite unsure which one though. just sharing with u this info as far as i know, Bubble tip anemones and corals can be housed together quite happily, provided the anemone does not sting other corals.
  10. my coral is an elegance. very big. when fully expanded, its slightly bigger than my palm with all fingers straightly held out. The coral looks dam stressed when my fish steal food from it, coz my wrasse tugs and pulls the food out from the sticky tentacles. So far my coral doing very good, and i know elegance is not an easy coral. So im trying to prevent an misfortune, especially this petty problem from a greedy fish -.- And i tried feeding the fish prior to feeding the corals. My cleaner wrasse just doesnt know when to stop. even if its bloated and satiated, it will STILL steal food from the coral, and then just dont eat. play with the food. very naughty man. must send for training. summore when i put my hand in to chase it, it will bite and drill my hand. so u can imagine how frustrated i feel....haha. but i quite relax la. angry but still..cannot blame the fish mah. natural behaviour. Think the best way is to trap it in a betta box first. should be easy coz he always dam hungry, and always trying to "clean" foreign objects placed into the tank. Last time it ever just swam straight into a net to clean it. However lately, he has grown clever and more brazen. iskay, ur idea is not bad. i tried it though...using satay stick. but my corals take sooo slow to eat -.- i get tired and bored waving a stick in the water haha.
  11. just came home from GO with 2 small pieces of candycane and one more GSP. bad news, one of my candycane, when take put of plastic that time accidently rub too hard against the bag...coz they put inside a small bag very hard to take out. now the skeleton tore trough the meat T_T. im hoping it will recover. this happened to my bubble and fox coral before, and they all recovered very well. Hoping it will be same for my candy cane >.>
  12. my elegance, everytime i try to feed it, my cleaner wrasse will come and steal food. Im tryign to solve this problem coz im afriad in the long run, it will damage the tissue of my elegance.
  13. BTW, anyone see any green chromis around? looking for like, 5.
  14. haha came back from GO. nothing really interested me except the candy cane. The luminous one very LUMINOUS!! as in...ULTRA LUMINOUS. i was quite...scared of it LOL. like radioactive. so i just bought the normal green ones instead. bought 2. Somehow, i find bro radiative's candy cane to be much nicer in terms of shape. very hard to find nicely shaped candy canes. And bought a GSP home too. Now i got 2...
  15. Help, anyone of u know what to do? My cleaner wrase keep stealing food from one of my coral until now i think the coral is hurt -.- i hate that stupid fish man. everytime pull food away from the coral, i scared the coral will get injured. I put my hand in to chase it away, it keep biting me. anyone of u know how to feed the coral in peace without the fish disturb? i put box over the coral, but i find that alot of the tentacles touch the box, and the toral let go of the food. i guess it doesnt like the box....stupid fish la. summore is a cleaner wrasse. alot of ppl cleaner wrasse refuse to eat, mine, eat too much! LOL. appreciate all help i think i need to get a reaaaaaaaly big box...or catch the fish out. but so hard to catch
  16. still got any elegance left? after my cousin see the elegance i bought, he also want lol
  17. alot of pigments from paint are used from transition elements, coz alot of these elements will give colour in different oxidation states. Point is, alot of these elements are poisonous, like nickel and chromium. Best to not use it, but if u say this has been 1 month already, then i guess it should be safe
  18. his heart shape anchor isit for sale? i collecting LPS already have one anchor though. BTW, 1.5ft high very good good light penetration!
  19. ur GSP looks a little less green to me. i dunno if its green, or the normal kind. this is mine, u can see for comparison. hope it helps But i think if u take care of it, it will become green again. then again im not sure hope this helps. the first pic looks white coz i take with flash. the real colour is the one on the right
  20. that one alien brain ah? slice open the skull then this thing drop out. so scary siazxzxzxzx
  21. thats the heart? where the lungs, liver, kidneys, stomach? btw, very nice! cant wait to see FTS. u keeping all wrasse tank? ahha..if u wan a cleaner wrasse that eats anything, i have one to sell,...provided i can catch it. that bugger dm annoying..keep stealing food from my corals
  22. buy your wife a new tank then got 2. one for u, one for her haha!! for V day. then u see her tank, all the girly and pretty stuff. zoos la, etc etc. all the gems all pink and red! wa. faint.
  23. it depends. if the colour only coat the feathers, no harm done. but if it stains the skin, and penetrate deep tru the feathers and cover the skin, then thre will be some problem. firstly, skin cannot breathe, and may affect homeostatic changes for the chick
