  1. btw the flame angels i have are currently living in a four member harem. consisting of one male flame angel one female flame angel and two female flame angels x rusty angel hybrids the male spawns with all three females, but he prefers the female flame.
  2. coral farm! got it at 2 inch. it's slightly bigger now.
  3. interesting. the aberrant dottyback above morphed into the below!
  4. i took some more photos yesterday and they're slightly better.
  5. really? you must not have seen many flame angels before then! haha just kidding. this is just a regular male flame angel. many of them are like that actually. of course the male-ness will be enhanced if you keep it in a pair. and in this case, it's spawning with 3 different female fishes. so it's bound to get pretty studly. but this aint the best i've seen. not even close. i've seen some with very nice "filaments" like a little queen angel!
  6. selen is very nice and i want it alot. but i've never seen it before. not often targeted for collection. you might be able to find tinker's btterfly in hk. but it's a rare fish so don't get your hopes up! hk is the butterfly and angel capital of S.E asia so don't be surprised if you actually do see it. but they get snapped up lightning fast!
  7. chaetodon selene does not belong to the same complex/relative of tinker's butterfly at all. and chaetodon selene is a rare butterflyfish in the trade.
  8. i've never seen the full open polyps for this species EVER. your pictures are the furthest i've seen them extend their polyps. one of theee harrrrrddddeeessstttt species of suns to keep. i hope to see them in full bloom!
  9. I hand carved a beautiful ornate coffin in which I shall sleep in tonight, to commemorate the ending of this weekend, the starting of school tomorrow, and the inevitable failure of my NAPFA test this coming tuesday.

  10. it was very difficult to take a good picture of the pronotogrammus martinicensis at coral farm. the fish was in its subdued stress colour, coupled with the dirty fish tank glass and it's shy, hiding nature made it extremely hard to photograph. i did manage to get a pretty lousy shot of it. it's really very blotchy anthias like!
  11. You looking for a flame angel right? I love going flame angel hunting. Every piece is unique and you'll have lots of fun hunting them during Hawaii shipments. Choose one that you like. I personally like those with unique barring. Especially those with very little bars. But some like those with many bars. There are also those with extremely thick block bars, and those with joined V shaped bars etc. Perhaps the most interesting flame ive ever found was an aberrant one with a blue tail. But Iwarna Aunty wanted to keep it for herself so I did not take it. But I think it's dead now. I've also found an aberrant one from reborn with almost no bars. But it was unhealthy and it died. I love flame angels. Common fish but always full of surprises and so diverse in markings.
  12. Oh no it's not mine. I mean this Lfs in the US is offering free to its customers. They only need pay for shipping
  13. I like it. Was given free by the Lfs but only need to pay for shipping.
  14. Anampses chrysocephalus my favourite species in the genus. the red tailed ones are the females and the orange head one is the male. i hope CF bring in again. this is another super difficult fish i'm not yet willing to give up trying yet.
  15. another photo of bradley's chrysocephalus. omg i love it. this is my fav species in the anampses genus and i like this fish more than femininus and lennardi. i think femininus and lennardi are absolutely gorgeous but they're too "slapstick beautiful" i like chrysocephalus coz it's an abstract beautiful. horrible shippers and rarely fare well in captivity. i tried 2 females and all died. bradley is lucky to get his from LADD. it's feeding very well!
  16. yes i told aunty to keep for you. there were many people crowding to see what the commotion was when i was calling you and talking about it. also aunty was there showing me so everyone ask me what it is. i said i don't know and they all exclaimed "wah! u dunno means it must be a new un-id species" but alas, it's not and it's something i am not familiar with. not a new sp.
  17. don't speak too soon! wait someone buy it before you like your toby hahaha! but i doubt it. $750 for an anthias is tooo much and no one will buy. tomorrow can go down and admire it. it's a very nice size.
  18. these deepwater fishes are caught at incredulous depths!!!! 600ft is ridiculous!
  19. but the range doesn't overlap in the xmas islands? if marshall islands then yes. but are declivis found in the marshalls?
  20. just a darker variant of declivis. it's selling at very high price of $600 USD too. i would much rather have bought the 2 inch tinker which was sold at only 500.
  21. and it's so funny how it's endemic to hawaii only. it has no other relatives that look remotely similar to it as well! even the miliaris butterfly, which is a hawaii endemic, have similar looking species in other parts of the world like citrinellus etc. this shows that the species are very closely related and differentiated due to evolution. but fremblii is different.
  22. yes the colour is not as intense anymore. angels and certain other fishes will darken under bright metal halides. here's a comparison pic of when i first got it. despite the loss in orange, do you also notice something else? the blue edge on the dorsal and ana| fin has reduced greatly! the fish has transformed into a female due to the pressure of my male flame angel and has thus, lost almost all the blue edging. females tend to have less and much reduced blue edges.
