  1. feminine wrasse getting more common everywhere and aside from the new male/female pair at b-box aquarium, here's another male/female pair in japan.
  2. very closely related to the square spot anthias. pseudanthias sheni.
  3. most of the red sea fishes like purple tang, sohal, asfur etc are commonplace in the hobby and won't be gone for long. it's the ones like paucifasciatus butterfly, eight line flasher, regal, and a whole bunch of other fishes that are absent for a long time! but it's only recently that they're starting to appear again. don't be mistakened that red sea only have the common 5 fishes offered. the offerings are actually very diverse! used to be anyway.
  4. that's not ich.. what species of filefish is it? can we have a picture of the whole fish? some species of filefish have appendages on it that give it the appearance of having "beard" or tassles.
  5. hahaha!! good thing for you, i decomm already otherwise would have snatched it from you! just kidding la. i know you like this fish alot. have fun with it. it'll be very gorgeous once settled down.
  6. paracheilinus octotaenia. almost didn't make it into the shipment list until i literally demanded it to be included in the stocklist. paucifasciatus butterfly also was suppose to be included but somehow didn't make the cut. now that i'm not keeping fish anymore i don't think i'll be on the ball to nag at people to bring in rare fish! but i'll keep an eye out for you on those species you're looking for. P. octotaenia has not been widely available worldwide but is now becoming commoner again thanks to opening up of certain red sea collectors. many of the U.S side lfs are seeing this fish again. this is the only species in the genus found in the red sea and is the most different from all other flasher wrasses. very big rounded fins.
  7. this is a fish with a 1% rate of success in home aquarium. why? because it is an obligate coralivore which means it has a strict diet of only SPS and nothing else. Chaetodon ornatissimus is one of many species that are not suitable for aquarium life. unless you can provide it with a strict diet of SPS, and not just any species of SPS for that matter, you are most likely going to fail in the keeping of this fish. and fyi, it is commonly sold in shops. which is undeniably unfortunate.
  8. one of my favorite documentaries. that's richard pyle, bryan green and others when they went expedition in palau. in that trip they collected centropyge abei, chromis abyssus, bodianus neopercularis, cirrhilabrus earlei, belonoperca chabanaudi, basabei butterflyfish and a whole lot of other new species!
  9. cf brought them in before but they're pretty delicate. they do make nice schooling fish though.
  10. tank is gone. house is spacious again.

i told myself i'm never going back to boring rectangles after i went for this cube. if ever i were to start again it's going to be a cube. i'm thinking of doing a small 1x1x1 or 2x2x2 in my room. keep one species of fish only.

Keeping 1 species of fish meaning 5 rare centropyges?

      Or 5 rare butterflies?

  11. very nice right! what's unusual about it is that it started off normal and then turned into this funny pattern. i got it from a thread in rc.
  12. that's the problem with creaitng hybrids with two v similar species. you get something that looks like the parents and it doesn't become special anymore.
  13. You can read my latest article on hybrid angelfish and butterflyfish here! http://reefbuilders.com/2012/02/15/butterflyfish-inter-subgeneric-hybrid/

  14. one of my favorite tanks of all time. the marcellae, multibar and colini are drool worthy
