  1. a list of odd things my fishes eat i know its not good to feed them these human foods.... but i only did it once and was suprised....so just though of posting here for fun. pls note all this are just fed only 1 tiny piece and only once. grapes - eaten by flame wrasse, rhomboid, pencil wrasse peas - eaten by rhomboid wrasse, pencil wrasse banana - eaten by pencil wrasse lettuce - pencil wrasse apple - pencil wrases.... looks like the pencil wrasse eats a heck load of junk! but healthy food due to the lack of knowledge of any sideeffects these might cause, i only fed once and should not be attempted hehe..
  2. ok. once again everyone for the support. to avoid off topic posting, will close the thread can continue in my tank thread if there's anything to add. thanks everyone.
  3. oh but do take note there are some exceptions like sun corals and other non-photosynthetic corals. since they don't photosynthesize to make food, regular feedings will have to be made. daily feedings are best, but again, in small portions btw ketchup and desi, your tank is looking great. love that big hammer and blue tang. colourful tank in the making!
  4. its hard for any organism to consume diatom growing on the sand. because its difficult to eat... sand is a fluid medium which makes grazing very difficult. there are two choices to clear diatom build up on sand. increase flow and movement of sand to constantly shift it and make it look white again, or get a sea cucumber. what sea cucumbers do is eat up your sand together with all the algae, and digest the algae, and by passing out the undigested sand through their other end as form of waste. the sand that comes out is snow white and clean. they are super good at their job but when they die, they take all your livestock with them. a dying sea cucumber is a tank waiting to crash
  5. nope. they usually prefer less than green. as a rule of thumb, blue colour is a form of protection against UV by the coral itself, or for filtering out uneccesary spectrum of light. clams are usually blue because they shade themselves from certain spectrums in the sunlight. for this particular blue favia, placing it in higehr light will result in neon green stripes running across the red "eyes". i placed it lower to curb this green stripes as i find it will ruin the overall blue appearance by makign it very messy. look at the picuture one more time. the parts circled show the green lines starting to form...
  6. use a syringe to squirt mysis at the corals u intend to feed. do not feed market prawns everyday. your coral will die. regardless of which coral... LPS don't need regular feedings. once in awhile like 1 or 2 weeks a light feeding with mysis will benefit them alot already. like what bro vtec has mentioned, pellets are very useful. i feed pelelts to my brains and favias. for stinging wavy corals, mysis works very well. market prawn once in awhile ya very nice tank btw. looking very great
  7. thanks bros for all the comments, PMs and offers. have decided not to sell it for the time being, but the pricing offered has really helped in its value. pricing so far has been reasonable, so in future if want to sell, will be around this price, or more. thanks everyone for the support, and sorry to dissapoint those who really want it. as for fragging, will not frag it. a blue favia in pieces will lose its charm imo.
  8. scooter blenny not difficult unlike mandarins. good luck
  9. hi bro that's a very nice piece. i had one but the purple overtook all the green after awhile haha. guess it had something to do with the lighting i provided.
  10. the "green goblin" favia awaits me
  11. omg spiderman and venom! you're dam good at this i swear. next i'll hunt for a magnificent green and red 1, call it green goblin. if there's such thing as an all red or red+yellow 1. call it carnage
  12. hi des. beautiful tank jump so many pages in 1 day! hard to keep up haha. that's a scooter blenny, not a rock/stone goby. very closely erlated to mandarin fishes although different. feeds on pods but easier to train onto prepared food. yes your coco worm is spawning! grats! VERY beautiful hammer i utterly love it. am an euphyllia freak and that nice hammer you have is wonderful. cauliflower is a soft coral not a SPS btw. extremely hard to keep. infact its almost impossible unless u feed it heavily on baby brine shrimp or planktonic liquid food on a daily basis. and make sure high flow and low light for it.
  13. more cortez wrasses spotted at ahbeng. bigger than those at sealife. 4 inches at least
  14. there's only SPS at iwarna from walt smith. no zoas tis shipment.
  15. plenty of captive bred black occelaris clowns at Iwarna. ahbeng has some too.
  16. thomas, the cortez is about 3 inch+. agreed its very beautiful.
  17. i can only assume they are copepods since no picture is given and a pretty bad description too. but white little dots crawling around tank glass are usually pods. a clear picture will confirm. pods come in all sizes. copepods, amphipods all kinds.
  18. oh yeah. its pricey all right yup have your number
  19. hi peter. all these "moon" wrasses are also known as lunar wrasse. thalassoma Sp. so calling it cortez lunar wrasse is same as cortez moon wrasse. fishes have many common names so the same fish can come with many different names. the name cortez in thalassoma sp refers to only T. lucasanum. as long as u see cortez with lunar, or moon, it should be this fish. just like queen angel, queen, queen angelfish all means the same thing. T. lunare is commonly called lunar wrasse only, or moon wrasse. common names are very confusing, that's why its good to know some scientific names to avoid confusion between similarly named fishes. ok off topic. this discussion can continue in reef fishes forum i love discussing interesting topics like this because there's so much to learn from each other. i did not know cortez wrasse was also known as cortez rainbow wrasse.
  20. hi bro earth. the cortez rainbow wrasse is the same as cortez wrasse. i added in the lunar because lunar wrasses aka moon wrasses, are those thalassoma wrasses. it is this right? have 3 there.
