  1. how bout this? it's beautiful too and obtainable via reborn this particular picture looks like a longnose butterfly lol.
  2. i've not had much problem with flame angels. fierce but usually lose interest after awhile. my powder blue on the other hand was very fierce. didn't leave my new fishes alone for few days to 1 week. individual fish i guess. dottybacks......................................... no comment. the only dottyback that i had, and was peaceful, was Manonichthys cf. alleni. my favourite dottyback so far and will definitely buy again when my new tank is up.
  3. yep. but mesoleucos is just so nice. but not for a reef tank lah. too pugnacious and grow too big
  4. anyway i managed to find a small C. mesoleucos. very cute when small. but they have the tendency of looking very long, length wise, when they get older... they're nicer when their fins are out stretched. i didn't know the eye bar will dissapear with age
  5. i've been looking for a swalesi for quite awhile now. the pictures on internet look quite nice. finally saw a pair at CF today and instantly said no. so dull in real life. a matchstick compared to the supernova that is carmabi.
  6. bro not quite true. an established powder blue, flame angel or dottyback will attack fish that are not similar in shape too. it is very common for wrasses, anthias, other tangs, other angels, other dottybacks, and most other fish to get harrassed by them.
  7. terryz, paucifasciatus is SO MUCH nicer than xanthurus. compare the colour. Paucifasciatus is SOOOO RED while xanthurus is just a cheap orange knock-off
  8. the problem is alot of these fishes come in at such big sizes. i dunno why really. golden butterflies, wrought iron, mesoleucos, semeion etc almost never come in around 3-4 inches. are there only large ones in the wild??
  9. your welcome. be careful with butterflies. many of them are extremely difficult to keep and 90% are not reef safe. if you need recommendation just let me know. will do my best to help.
  10. what's your experience on C. mesoleucos? if you have any. i find the white face brown body very striking. but never seen it in real life before. according to literature, very fierce. reef-safe wise? so far most of my residences are fairly reef safe being mostly chelmon sp, forcipiger sp and centropyge sp. the coradion and chaetodon paucifasciatus, mitratus and declives are the only questionable one but i'll let it slide. as long as there aren't too many 100% non-reef safe 1 it shud be fine
  11. i change my mind! kena poisoned by you. apparently they are one of the safer butterflies along the league of copperband. the name is really nice! altivelis is latin for sail-fin i think.
  12. both are 1.5 inch. very small and good size.
  13. check the rules and amend your bidding should you have anything missing.
  14. haven decided too if a moorish idol isn't show stopping enough, then i'll have to think of something else. don't worry. with my Chelmon marginalis and Coradion altivelis coming, there won't be a shortage of showfish anytime soon
  15. someone in reefcentral has a pair of spawning colinis. BEAT THAT!! ARGH. no more golden in stock. if you can provide better conditions than me i will be glad to sell you my "pair" at cost price. i have a feeling it will wither away in my holding tub. -.- dont want to see any more deaths liao.
  16. once the rocks go in, the 42 inch will look very much smaller. i don't really like big fishes. it makes the tank look kinda clumsy. and semeion is very beautiful, but not showfish standard. haha. i still want to try my moorish idol again. record was 6 months before it died after i gave it away.
  17. i have been doing that for the past 3 weeks. sianz. the irritating thing is the hopeful anticipation of watching them stare at the food, then JUST WHEN THEY GOING TO EAT, they swim away. dam frustrating. AND WHEN THEY FINALLY START EATING, they stop few days later.
  18. according to aunty, this is not the first time they bring in. but she said it's very very very rare. so rare until i've only seen it once. no lah. i said i've only seen it once. CF brought in more than once before. but selling at 3.8 red notes before discount. zz make it sound so cheap. this fish is actually one of those sian kind. they are only very beautiful when they are 6 inch and above. that's when the brilliant blue forehead and filament will start to show. anything below that size will just look like a latticed butterfly.
  19. 3 very good but not good enough! ALL 4!!! haha. and no cheating. must be ownself buy from LFS and train ourselves. hehe
  20. ha! see you this monday and friday bro. and tuesday or some other day.
  21. yes. you're right. like i've said before, feeding is definitely not the acid test for them. If you tell me you have one that's feeding i will just say, "so what?" sigh.... getting very discouraged. nevermind, all this is valuable experience for me that will help me better myself as a reefer. i've learned so much about these fishes ever since i embarked on my log. terryz, one day lol. one day we will have all 4 living together in 1 glass box.
