yes the thermostat is attached to the compressor. there's a probe that records temperature and shows it up on the screen.

haha peace. not everyday can someone kill murphy.

  2. first ever photos of Whitleychoeres brownfieldi. the genus is a subdivision of halichoeres proposed by kuiter but is not widely accepted yet
  3. like i've said before, many times, so many that i cannot remember, cleaner wrasses do not eat white spots. they eat larger ecto parasites (ecto means out) such as isopods, maybe flukes, etc. whit spots bury under the skin so they are out of reach. so anyone buying cleaner wrasses for white spot control, it does not work. as for feeding, L. dimidiatus is the easiest to get feeding. but wether or not they can survive after feeding is highly debated topic and i wont discuss it again, as there are many reefers with opposing view points who cannot keep negative comments to themselves and cannot think with an open mind.
  4. the last red tail to come was this year/ or late last year, cant remember, at iwarna. but only came 1 female. this is a very beautiful wrasse especially the males.
  5. yes agree with what law say. No matter what potassium salt you are using, when dissolved in water, potassium ions will still be present. meaning if you are looking at the effect of potassium alone, doesn't matter if you use potassium iodide, potassium chloride, or any other potassium salt. KI is the chemical formula for potassium iodide and when dissolved in water, will give you K+ and I-, potassium ions and iodide anions. If say use potassium (not potassium iodide), this means that you don't want iodide to be preesnt. coz either way you will still be getting potassium. anyway, very interesting writeup and extremely useful. green colour for SPS is from iron. Iron 2 ions are green. Purple color for SPS is from potassium. potassium ions are purple in excited state. i did not know the colour of the ions lead to the colour of the SPS. could be a coincidence though.
  6. shipment 1pm tentative. flame angel block is a colloquial term for flame angels with very thick black bars. they are usually much redder than normal flames too but are not the true hawaii flame. the previous batch of blocked angels look something like this. notice the very thick blockish bars.
  7. males are very rare. to my knowledge, never come before. females are also rare. i dunno if CF bring in before, but i'm not surprised if they do. but the tails are red. there are many species that look similar but are yellow tails, and those are veryyyyyy common. u sure you didn't see this instead?
  8. anyway they're very cheap. so can try. but i'm sure it will work. rubriventralis is not overly aggressive like roseafasica and some others.
  9. rubriventralis is the most peaceful in it's complex. naokoae is the fiercest. rubriventralis compared to other fairies are considered quite peaceful already. it is possible if you have a large tank. and like if can, get more than 1 sub male so it's aggression will be spread out amongst the other sub-males. wat we want is not for it to kill them, but express enough aggression until it reverts back to female. no use if it's too peaceful. it will never work on very very peaceful species like flame wrasse. you can keep 2-3 male flame wrasses together and nothing will happen. neither will it work on extremely aggressive species lik pylei, roseafascia or scottorum fierce is good. we want fierce. but moderately fierce.
  10. well, as proven by my marjorie and vt snowman's rubripinnis, reverse sex change in cirrhilabrus is possible. next time if you want, buy a very male rubriventralis. make sure it's very very male. get 1-3 very young males with poorly developed colour and finnage. doesn't matter if it has male colouration and fins, as long as it's very subdued, its fine. throw all of them in at the same time, let the dominant one boss the other 3 around. within a month or so, they should revert back to female. with my marjorie it took less than a month. from male to female in few weeks, and from female back to male took slightly longer.
  11. rubriventralis is purple spots. like this photo. the others have green or other colours. the first picture i posted with the green spots are probably reflection from flash photography. but i've also seen green spotted rubriventralis? sometimes coral farm will have very young, almost female-males which still retain some of the spots.
  12. i never said they were not nice wat... females of rubriventralis, morrisoni, cf. morrisoni, johnallae and naokoae all look very similar being in the same complex. orange/red with numerous greenish spots which form rows.
  13. wah. so generous. thanks they are difficult to feed and when feeding, can die mysteriously too. i wish you the best of luck. have tried 4 times already, managed to pair them up each time but did not make it ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ on a side note, people who are going to reborn's hawaii shipment tomorrow should take note of the red tail tamarin wrasse, A. chrysocephalus. it's rarely seen here but common in the states. a very very gorgeous but challenging species, both males and females are beautiful. males have a brilliant orange head, which is where it get's it's latin name from. Chryso = orange/red, cephalus = head. females are black with numerous white spots and a red tail, unlike their yellow tail cousins from indonesia and philippines. a sandbed is required for them and like most tamarin wrasses, they may be a challenge to feed and adapt.
  14. aww! been searching for C. colini now. nevermind hopefully there's season now since ah beng have colini. good luck and enjoy your colini! notoriously difficult species
  15. Femlae C. rubriventralis. very nice and rare. even nicer than the males IMO.
  16. Hawaii at reborn tomorrow. yellow tang flame angel bandit angel lemonpeel hybrid lemonpeel black tail black tang, Z. rostratum flame wrasse - pair flame x shepardi hybrid - 1pcs only - OMG!!! flame angel - block goldflake orange fantail filefish emperor angel - xmas island, orangetail orangepeel 12 line wrasse potter wrasse purple velvet wrasse red tail wrasse - a.rubrocaudantus A. rubrocaudatus is not a valid scientific name anymore. It has now been changed to Anampses chrysocephalus, for anyone wondering what fish that is.
