  1. according to iwarna and reborn, clams, and corals were dirt cheap last time. fishes on the other hand, were more expensive
  2. those big brown gorgonians are photosynthetic and always commonly available from iwarna's bali coral shipment.
  3. yes that is the feminine wrasse. Anampses femininus. named the feminine wrasse because the female is more attractive than the male. which is very unique and rare for a wrasse. most female wrasses are drab and very ugly. LCK brought one in before from Australia. unfortunately it's not an easy fish to keep, like most species in it's genus. can be found from aussy and vanuatu.
  4. only a matter of time before we can see these. Chrysiptera tricincta, Luzonichthys waitei, and the sailfin anthias (hopefully)
  5. well the good thing is, flavicauda, tuxedo damsels etc are on the stocklist. meaning they can be obtained without request, but subjected to availability. these two should not be too impossible to obtain. compare to rosefascia, femininus, etc. these are really the ones that require immense amount of waiting. like for years iwarna have been bringing in vanuatu imports. but only less than 5 times have roseafascia appeared, and feminimus has yet to appear. nvm i will keep a lookout for them the next time!
  6. with me around, we can TRY to look forward to flavicauda and sailfin anthias. ventralis will be so passe with those 2 new imports. don't forget the tuxedo damsel, the melanistic longnose butterflies, hybrid lemons and sooooo many more! omg i'm getting all excited again.
  7. yes im also very surprised your tank turned out so colourful. the blue seafan and the green GSP is very nice. ok i will support you in your search for questionable coral additions and will sound more enthusiastic next time. nonsence fish? ok. hooded wrasse, grochou lemonpeel, deepwater coral beauty can be your next few nonsence fishes.
  8. hmm so cheap? i remember aunty telling me the first ever flame wrasse pair to hit singapore was brought in by them. 1 pair of flame wrasse sold for $600. and many people SNATCHED! it was so precious then that they had to keep it in the office and people would be so desperate to see it. at that time, rhomboids were unheard of. so nostalgic. too bad i was born into the generation where flame wrasse is a staple import of hawaiian shipments and have become so cheap.
  9. now i finally know why they call it crystal glass. the sand bed is white now. no more diatoms and cyano and watever algae problems. coraline is starting to grow very nicely my SPS are encrusting pretty well the water is crystal clear, like the sandy beaches of tahiti. and the tank looks so bright due to the white sand reflecting off the light from the MH and the crystal glass. it finally looks so much better but i'm not going to spoil it with my lousy camera. so no pictures.
  10. WHAT THE *****!!! GORGEOUS TANK. SERIOUSLY!!! LOOKS SO ZEN!!!! ALL THE UGLY SOFTIES YOU BUY LOOK SO NICE SUDDENLY. ok. after calming down, here's my opinions. although the individual pieces of corals you buy are very questionable, they look very beautiful and natural in your tank. good job! and i love the elevated scape and i think what gives it a very beautiful and zen look is the jet black background and absence of sand. the seafans are very healthy. especially the blue one. yes too many nonsence fish. totally not your type, but it adds life to your tank. great job! looks so natural
  11. trace elements mean elements found in minute or small quantities. these include strontium, iron, molybdenum etc. macro minerals or elements means elements found in large amounts in seawater, like calcium, magnesium, sodium etc. macro elements are essential for survival and without them, the organism cannot grow or survive. trace elements, although essential, do not play as big a role as macro elements. without it, the organism may still survive but may be very weak, or in cases of corals, very ugly, very faded colour, brittle skeleton etc.
  12. the real shepardi angels are extremely rare now. they are mainly found in guam and since there's no collection there at the moment, shepardi's are unavailable. there is another angel that resembles 99% to the real shepardi, and it is the "rusty flame" angel. a hybrid between the flame and the rusty angel. the rusty flame is found in cebu where rusty and flames are found. they are circulating the market worldwide except singapore now, and they look almost identical to the real shepardi's. that's why many people confuse shepardi and rusty flame.
  13. the colini in CF was reserved yesterday liao. digiman felt so at home while playing with those queens. and i have to admit i love them so much. they are just so fantastically gorgeous and i feel like sinking my teeth into their cyan coloured flesh.
  14. my friend has a female rubriventralis or one of the rubriventralis complex. dunno wat it is. he doesnt want it anymore and is giving me. when i look at it again and feel that it's too ugly, you can have it since u like it so much.
  15. hi bro, sorry did not really answer your reply here or at the bbq, so i will explain more in detail here. i have seen pictures and in real life, anthias with dislocated ripped off jaws due to aggressiveness in feeding. they will try to feed but it will be impossible due to the broken mouth. they will slowly die either from starvation, or bacterial infection. as for the fins, if the fins are cut too deep into the hard rays, it will be un-savable. fins are divided into two portions. the harder bottom section and the soft top section. if damage is done to the base, it is irreversible and may not grow back fully, or may not grow back at all. hopefully your vet friend is able to stitch the jaw back together. surgery in marine fishes is not uncommon. there's a guy in the states who brought his 10 year old french angel to a vet to operate out a tumour, stitch back and healed perfectly. however on a small tiny clown likes yours with injuries at such severity, i'm sorry to say that it's almost no hope. not to be a wet blanket, but don't get your hopes up. although it's good to be positive. i'm very suprised your clowns are still alive. and such cases are almost always freak cases and don't happen often at all. so this is the best to which i can help you with, if there's even any help at all. take care!
