A series of SUPER RARE endemic fishes to triton bay and cenderawasih bay! Pseudochromis jamali!!! a curious dotty back that looks like Chromis retrofasciata. who is imitating who? Also Paracheilinus nursalim, Cirrhilabrus cenderawasih, Paracheilinus walton and Eviota raja.

Hey Tony, this one should be very familiar to you. after all, you described it! It's a male P. tonozukai, and it's the 3rd one we've seen this past few weeks. i've never seen this fish before here. the female as you know, is orange.

dr gill, i need your assistance. is this Parioglossus winterbottomi? collected in mudflats of India, bengal. i can't even find holotype pics of this fish anywhere. it looks almost like a FW fish.

You are right. Last year we found this fish to be lipogramma sp, distinct from robinsi. There appears to be some undescribed fish down in curaçao, including a cf. evides and a liopropoma cf. aberrans.

Over the years as our fish IDing skills have improved, we've been able to go back and correct some of our initial mistakes or ID some of the initially in identified fish. However this one has remained unknown for the longest time. Tony if you could ID this it would be greatly appreciated.

Invaluable help again tony! Some of the posts you've replied dated back so many years ago. It's nostalgic. Regarding Pseudoplesiops rosae, Do you have a picture showing one alive or in true colour? The pink one with the yellow head is being spread around and known as Rosae to is aquarist, and even fish base depicts this as the species. Could you help to clear the confusion?

This is quite shocking to hear dr gill. Do you have a living picture of Rosae? For the last couple of years this group of dottybacks have been appearing on and off and are all rare. Not much is known so the mix up is not surprising. On another note, if you don't mind, could you shed more light on Pseudochromis luteus from Japan?
