  1. yes the huge emperor. the reef is theming with fishes but no corals!
  2. super rare takeuchii swallowtail angels in the wild! also many interruptus angels weaving in and out of the rocks, and female watanabei angels! there's also 2 species of cardinals which i cannot identify!
  3. the sex of the fish also determines colour. if i'm not wrong, this fish is sexually dichromatic.
  4. thats not bio! if it's bio then i will use genetics which i did not coz i know no one will understand. i love genetics. anyway yah i feel it's a hybrid too!
  5. here's my take. clowns are benthic spawners and social fishes. the males and females need to stay with each other long enough to express dominance/recession and start spawning. also, since they are benthic, they lay eggs systematically and fertilize them on the spot. chances of hybrids occuring is quite slim. for angels, if they are very similar in complex like rusty/flame, lemonpeel/vroliki etc, then pelagic random egg scattering spawning may occur. and since they scatter their eggs and sperm in water, chances of cross-fertilisation between other species that may be spawning at the same time is likely to occur. since most angels spawn at the same time during dusk.
  6. i feel that it is also a hybrid. maybe not a spectacular one since both parent species are so similar looking. like the big longnose and the normal longnose. when both hybridise, no one really knows coz the difference is too subtle. and the S. pictus is gorgeous. but fierce!
  7. the Callanthias japonicus is settled down nicely in the shop in thailand. it's selling for $350USD! cheap for such a rare fish!
  8. the thing is, even if it eats brine shrimp, it will die. even if it eats pellets, it will also die. the problem with obligate coral feeders is they have evolved over the years to eat nothing else but corals. sure one or two will eat pellets or brine shrimp or mysis and survive, but the odds are too slim to count. tkae this as a lesson learnt. many butterflies are obligate coral eaters so pls do research before buying.
  9. it WILL die. please do more research in future and stop buying fishes like these. they don't survive at all because of their strict diet.
  10. impossible to keep. it's an obligate SPS eater. that means it eats nothing but SPS. unless you can provide it SPS forever, you can't keep this. substitute fish foods will not work and it won't eat them.
  11. samchez, that damsel is very very common. it's the blue devil damsel. and cf always have. but the one u posted has a red tail and it's a colour variant. a rare variant. it's normally either yellow or blue.
  12. such small size regals can occasionally be found from ahbeng and CF. v cute.
  13. another white tang! so many now! but this is a white scopas. not a white yellow tang. more info at reef builders.
  14. OH MY GOD! gorgeous alpha male Callanthias japonicus and Pseudanthias elongatus showed up in thailand. thanks to my friend for sending these photos to me. CHECK OUT THAT TAIL ON THE CALLANTHIAS! these are just shop photos. my friend will take better photos tomorrow morning.
  15. Here's the sub-adult transitioning emperor angel from the christmas islands that iwarna brought in. the tail is orange but not as deep yet. the colour will intensify as the fish ages!
  16. here's another emperor angel from christmas island showing the solid orange tail and the dark blue body colours. please don't compare prices of these emperors to that of the normal indonesian ones. these are show stopping gorgeous beauties!
