actually, there are some photos of people taking photos of fishes out of the water from the U.S and europe, believe it or not. although not as much as asians do and majority of out of water photographs are taken in taiwan, hong kong and japan. i agree it doesn't do the fish good and it's bad. but that's just the way things work out in asia.

i've kept marginalis two times. they are very much easier than rostratus and feed instantly on frozen. and out of the batch of more than 10 pieces, all were feeding. i've received feedback from a few friends here who have kept this species, all began feeding on frozen food. some even took small sized pellets. i'll agree that marginalis on a whole, is a generally harder level butterfly due to it's finiky feeding, but as compared to the copperband, it is much easier. and i won't call it expert only. difficult to moderate probably. i've also seen muelleri being sold in shops and they feed well on frozen food too. johan, i know you have a problem with me and you may think i'm some dumb kid who just goes around ripping stuff from the net and pasting everywhere. and while i certainly do not have as much knowledge as you, i'm not completely handicapped in this hobby. i did not get my job on reefbuilders just by lifting stuff off the net for nothing, and i hope that you understand. i have friends from the states who are well known scientists and well known people in the hobby. and while i do not have first hand experience by them, alot of the stuff i share here are translated by them. everyone starts out somewhere. i'm only 19 and i have a big passion for this hobby. you comment on everything i do and put me down. so what do you want from me?

Females are 3-4 inches Males are usually 4-5 inches I dont suggest buying males though. Based on personal experience and that of many other reefers in the U.S, males do not hold their colour even if paired with females. This is the problem with most Genicanthus angels. Watanabe Angels also sometimes pose this problem. Even with females, the males revert back to female form. This is not always the case, but there's a very high chance of this happening. No one is really sure why, but it could be that artificial pairing just cannot provide the social interaction needed between them. This is just a speculation. Starting with 2-3 females and waiting for one to naturally morph into a male is a better idea, and that way, the male will not change back because the social interaction between the harem is strong and the fishes themselves create the pecking order from the get go. But of course, you can try getting a male if you see one. No harm trying and since this species is so hard to find, wether male or female, just jump on the chance if you really like it

yellow belly regals sadly do not come in at 1-2 inches. all juveniles you see here are grey bellies. but juvenile regals are yellow so they are often mistaken for yellow bellied ones.

yeah! those are the royal grammas that are found in the grand cayman. unfortunately i've not seen them for sale anywhere even in the states. perhaps no collection there?

M3MORPH offered it for sale 2 times before. digiman both times ordered it but they too slow to ship it over. there's a similar variant in grand cayman where the grammas are 90% yellow and only 10% purple at the head. so far i've not seen them for sale anywhere..

for females, cf selling i think $30+ after discount. but i forgot exactly how much. sealife selling around $40 for females. male pricing i don't know. it's a cheap fish, but nonetheless, very hard to find.

thanks bro eniram for sending me a video of Chaetodon paucifasciatus being sold in Taiwan. received a video showing 7 amazingly small (2 inch) specimens of paucifasciatus being sold in taiwan. i asked him to pack 2 back for me and hopefully can be done. i took a rather blur still photo from the video. as you can see some of them still have the black ocellatus at the soft dorsal fin, indicating juveniles. i have a pair from dejong marine that did not make it after a few months really devastated and heartbroken when they died for no reason. these fishes are almost unobtainable now, and only appear in super small numbers in very little shops around the world. now they retail for sky high prices too.

i got my 4 females from sealife and coral farm combined. collected them slowly over a few weeks this time. there was s big male and other females but i think bought up by other people. i will update if i see more,

extremely shy! i don't suggest keeping them even in nano tanks. they are almost impossible to locate.

reefers and angelfish aficionados, the very rare Genicanthus semifasciatus (Yellow-masked angel) has finally re-surfaced in the trade again worldwide after almost a 4 year long hiatus here in singapore. in recent weeks, they have been coming in to singapore in small numbers. i've had a chance to obtain 4 females and i think some other reefers here have bought some too, including some nice males which came in. the window period for this fish is very short and then followed by another long long wait. the cebu collectors from philippines are targetting this fish now and are now starting to re-appear in the U.S and Asia. so keep your eyes peeled and i will update here if there are anymore.

sealife have many female watanabei angels and one male. plenty of tiny 1 inch regals too.

tony's juvenile scarus iserti parrot fish. v risky keeping parrot fishes in reef tanks. but this guy has been doing ok and well behaved according to tony. can grow to a giant!
