  1. here some updates on my cocos lemonpeel. the little torn fin on the tail is from the male flame angel, but other than that it's perfectly healthy. the blue eye is clearer in these pictures.
  2. Chrysiptera caeruleolineata is one of my favourites from the genus. i have one but it's impossible to photograph the busy little fish. here's a wild one in kwajalein, marshall islands.
  3. argentatus and burgess are "seasonal" they do not come in all the time from philippines, but when they do, most other shops around singapore will carry them. especially argentatus.
  4. you can do that but make sure no fish eat the babies once the male release. also most of them will end up floating into the overflow and dying there. you'll need suitable foods for the babies.
  5. Hemitaurichthys thompsoni. plain and dull looking but v rare. and nice. i want this if i have a chance to buy it.
  6. here's a photo of a wild indian ocean lemonpeel by luiz rocha. he photographed this in the christmas islands. gorgeous eyes.
  7. i like the scape. very nice. shallow tank with low lying scape. awesome!
  8. copepods. good. isopods are bad.
  9. WHAT!? THAT GSP IS LIKE A FIELD OF GRASS!! GORGEOUS!
  10. here's another pic before it went on sale. too bad this misbar will disappear when the fish grows into it's adult colours.
  11. the cocos lemonpeel, eibli hybrid and the deepwater catches from the atlantic will be showcased on reefbuilders. i'm going to get writing on them now.
  12. yup. the old photos i've posted were pretty bad. but this picture shows a better look at the fish. especially the photo of it turning it's head. the face is soo not a centropyge. more like a pomacanthus or a apolemichthys, in this case, for the tiger angelfish.
  13. i've released the lemonpeel into my tank. the male flame angel is chasing it but the chasing has decreased all of a sudden after about 15 minutes. it just doesn't seem interested in the lemonpeel. however compared to the time when i introduced the rusty flames, the flame angel went crazy and forced me to separate them. lemonpeel isn't closely related so i guess there is not so much aggression. surprisingly no aggresion from the rusty flames too. the eibli hybrid is bigger and is probably male. it's circling the lemonpeel but not in an aggressive way. there is no doubt both of them will pair up. the eibli is a big, probably male specimen and the addition of this smaller lemonpeel is going to induce spawning hopefully.
  14. It's grey Not because it's an aberrant. Tangs get washed out when something is not right.
  15. Then there would be hundreds to collect! I've a soft spot for lemonpeel hybrids and flame angels. Because all are so variable. Even the striping on flame angels. I wish I could collect them all
  16. The males keep the babies in the mouth even after they have hatched. They keep them there fora while. You can remove the babies once they have all hatched. They are capable of swimming even though they are kept in the mouth. This is much easier than removing the eggs and incubating them. The babies will be able to eat rots and baby brine shrimp. Wait till it's well past dark. Turn all your lights on to stun the male. Then catch him out. U won't be able to trap him using food as bait because he will be unreceptive to food during this time. I've tried before and raised them to young adults. One of The easiest marine fish to breed because the parents do everything for you until they've hatch.
  17. terry and digiman was with me. nope i do not have a seahorse tank. these kudas are captive bred and should eat mysis easily. in a dedicated system, they should do well.
  18. most freshwater plants are actually land plants that can grow in water too.. so keeping them out is no problem. you can even plant some in the ground and they'll grow normally. yat wong aquarium is a legend in hong kong. they've brought in tons of legendary rare fishes that we can only dream of seeing.
  19. here are two even rarer lemonpeels. a v cute one with mickey mouse tail and a blue mask lemonpeel. lemonpeel hybrids are not sterile and will spawn with other hybrids and normal lemonpeels to form a whole range of lemonpeels with an infinite combination to the degree of hybridness and colours. amazing.
