  1. yes tinker's butterflyfish never come in at sizes below 3-4 inches here. very small ones (1-2) inches are exeedingly rare in the hobby. the larger 4-5 inches ones are very commonly thrown to us as "rejects" cirrhilabrus rubriventralis is not rare.
  2. first ever liopropoma sp raised from eggs in captivity. it's unclear wether or not it is L. carmabi or L. rubre as multiple pairs of each are kept together and eggs are harvested together. but this is a big story for aquaculture and its the first time. here's hoping it's L. carmabi. after 15 years of trying, todd garner managed to get one to settle.
  3. it used to look more rusty. but it somehow changed. u can search this thread for the old photos. lazy to update.
  4. sadly, the bellus x melanospilos hybrid is turning female. interestingly, there is hardly any female bellus traits!
  5. my friend's rare fishes in hk and update on his very rare rusty x coral beauty. he has kept it for many months and the size and coloration has changed as the fish grow. at the bottom is a rusty x flame and the top right!?!??!?! HO HO. no need to explain. u all should know by now.
  6. Forcipiger longirostris! nice nice. big beautiful specimens.
  7. they will dwindle down slowly due to pecking order within a group. 50 is just too large and not every member will get to eat. best is to buy like 15 or 10, and slowly it will dwindle to a stabler smaller number like maybe 7.

  9. The tinker's butterflyfish belongs in the roaps subgenus which includes declivis, mitratus, burgess and flavocoronatus. All are deepwater and fairly reef safe. I would say like flame Angels. I have a declivis and a mitratus. No problems for me.
  10. one of my favourite species. but rare and expensive! small ones are even harder to come by!
  11. nope. 50 is too big. they will dwindle down to a smaller number.
  12. According to yurivd from RC, colini are collected and costs 20% more than joculators!!!!! Wth!?
  13. super. colini angels can be found in cocos islands. maybe we should request for the collector to include colini in the next joculator shipment.
  14. omg! juvenile 2 inch tinker on LADD! $500. v reasonable price!
  15. there's a new thread on reefcentral discussing the availability of Chaetodon wiebeli. i really like this butterflyfish and it's very common in thailand, japan and taiwan. but they are just not collected for the trade regularly enough. infact, most of these end up as by catch and sold in the local countryeither as food fish or as cheap by catch fish. they seldom get exported out and are just not targeted for collection. they are very common as can be seen in this swarm in japan. dr. tanaka who lives in miyazaki, occasionally see juveniles swimming near the surface of the harbor. easy to catch!
  16. cf aunty will be in the show? i must faster get her autograph before she becomes a famous da ming xin and don't want to talk to me anymore!
  17. here's the link to the lemonpeel article i've written. it's my favourite article i've written so far on a fish that i love so dearly. i hope anyone who reads it learn something interesting and appreciate the fish more! http://reefbuilders.com/2011/11/07/cocos-island-lemonpeel-angelfish/ never knew iphone could take such decent pictures.
  18. mine has a dorsla fin that is entirely black from start to end leh. why is that so? all the photos i see online usually have very little black on the dorsal fin.
