  2. these are duncan corals. the other name is whisker. scientific name (Duncanopsammia axifuga). very hardy and proliferate quickly. i got myself a small frag with 5 heads too this is not a tree coral. tree corals are soft corals belonging to the cauliflower family if im not wrong.

  5. Just want to share with reefers about the blanket octopus (tremoctopus sp.)! Most octopuses when threatened, will release a cloud of black ink. the blanket octopus however, releases a webbing that expands into a very big and impressive cape that glides through the water. What an amazing animal!! check out the picture here. http://media.photobucket.com/image/blanket...remoctopus2.jpg and a video. more information regarding this extremely cool creature http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blanket_octopus
  6. just came back from GO. when i was leaving i saw boss unpacking some SPS and he said there are some fishes too. not sure but those interested might wanna check them out.
  7. it is not neccesary to dip all corals in lugol in my opinion. only do it if u suspect infection or want to rid it of pests. usually zoanthids are the most popular corals for dipping. anyway, im using Kent's lugols sulution and they say 40 drops per 1 gallon of water for 10-15 mins. i duno what brand you are using.

  17. We all know how peaceful and tranquil our reef tanks are in the day. but what about night time? Where quiet creatures of the dark roam our tanks, and soft fluffy LPS corals turn into monstrous beasts at night. Or the odd bristle worm or two making its nightly appearance. Hope that other reefers can share what goes on in their tanks at night perhaps those who never thought of looking at what goes on in the dark should try it sometime. It really is another world at night! * i turned on my lights briefly to shoot these photos.* Let me get the ball rolling first. Look at these awesome sweepers from my favia frags! Not even the egg crates can stop them! each frag shrouds itself in so much of its sweepers that they appear white!!
  18. its quite far away from the cynarina so it should be fine. im only worried about other corals nearby. keep a look out for ur torch. see how big it expands. then move your corals away from it accordingly.
