  1. Anyone here know what are the spawning behaviours of damelfishes? Have a pair of Pomacentrus Alleni. 1 is bigger than the other. 1 of them is super neon metallic blue, while the other is a duller deep blue. Both swim together everyday. recently, the bigger one with the brighter colouration has taken a liking to a patch of sand underneath my favia. Its like a little cave, between 2 rocks and the favia on top as a roof. There is a brightly lit clearing of sand next to it. have seen him using his body to wiggle and clear off the sand to form a depression in the sand bed. Is he like, making a little love nest or something?
  2. from wetwebmedia? what they mean is, they grow out of control once established, and they spread really fast. it is however, easy to remove by peeling them off the rocks.
  3. shape wise and mouth wise look similar. but urs have a black face? with orange skirt?
  4. very nice but it looks nothing like a bambam. still, very nice though

  10. Successful introduction of wrasses resulting in 4 happy wrasses with no disputes, no chasing and no fin-biting what's next? hehe 1x yellow wrasse, 1x flame, 1x exquisite, 1x P. lineopunctatus

  13. wah feed 4-5 times a week? thats alot. but looks good! thumbs up
  14. if u want to be safe, QT everything. as u know, the cyst stage of ich can attatch to anything. so anything that has this and u intro to ur tank will hatch into ich .
  15. omg. i'll die happy if i own 1
  16. pachyclavularia sp. looks to me like a rather brown green star polyp.
  17. most wrasses, regrdless of family, are easy to get feeding. you should not have any difficulty feeding wise. as for disease, fairy hardy and resistant when compared to tangs, but still fall prey to the scrouge of diseases i.e ich, velvet etc. the only thing u have to worry about, is aggression. wrasses being jumpers, are very prone to jumping out when harassed. timid ones might not come out of hiding and eventually starve to death. flame wrasses imo are very shy. so make sure u have no aggressive fishes or u can kiss this baby good bye
  18. ah ok i see it now. this is not a pipe organ. from this picture can see they are growing on a mat/stolon. with retracted polyps. from the mat, this is a kind of star polyp. cloves dont grow in mats, and neither do pipe organs.
  19. yes. do check the base of the polyps for a hard calcium fossa in which the polyps retract into. if that is present, it is an organ pipe coral. if polyps retract into a soft cavity, most likely a clavularid, i.e cloves.
  20. one of the most important aspects of starting a new tank is CYCLING. regardless of how old ur rocks, sand everything are. if you have no patience to cycle, you most likely will not have patience for anythign else in the rest of ur reefing journey. take this cycling period as a mental test of ur patience. u want to cycle hours, days, weeks, up to you. the longer the better. Not only will cycling longer help to stablalise ur tank, it will give chance and time for beneficial liveforms to proliferate on ur rocks and tank. beneficial pods and macroalgae will grow during the time u choose to wait.
  21. 95% sure its pipe organ. Will need to take a look at the polyp base if u can provide me a photo.
