  10. as far as i know, only soft corals from sulawei arriving at iwarna today. should be there at 3.30
  11. the bacteria it kills it not so serious as majority of the bacteria grows in ur rocks and very little actually exist in the water. so bacteria passing tru ur UV is not as much. do need to dose bacteria on a regular basis..its wasting money. just dose once in a while, after water chances etc...its not an additive.
  12. majanos are never good..... there are some that look nicer and more decorative only. that's all. the good thing about majano is that they move slowly and reproduce slowly... compared to aiptasia. however, like most anemones, they CAN move and will move if they don't like where they are. most of the time one assume they don't move because they are already in a favourable place. they are also harder to kill than aiptasia IMO..... don't leave any bits behind when killing because these bits and pieces can and MAY grow into new ones. i prefer them over aiptasias. aiptasias are just horrible... spread and grow so fast
  13. they do... but slower than aiptasia. and harder to kill too.. speed of spreading depends on many factors like nutrient level, light, predation etc. in nutrient rich water, aiptasia spreds extremely quickly. majano spreads but never as fast as aiptasia...
  14. i notice this particular paly prefers dimmer lighting. they open up bigger and much more beautiful in lower lighting. bright lights make them open smaller.
  15. rocks will not leech PO4 if there is no coraline. the tuxedo urchin might stick zoanthid frags on it as "camouflage", and its annoying.. nice tank btw digibee. looks pretty full btw that anemone is a majano. a pest that grows and spreads quickly. you might want to consider removing it.
  16. Very nicely done Larry, I'm sure the other mods and reefers here will be proud to wear this shirt to LFS
  17. this and the ornate boxfish is probably my favourite. and the whitleyi too.
  18. yeah i remember seeing that too. the ornate box is my favourite! talk about expensive meal.....
  19. liverock is calcium carbonate based and will stabalise ur Ph and adds some degree of calcium to ur tank. the alkalinity of the rock will help maintain a basic pH. lava rock is acidic and is NOT reccomended for use in saltwater tanks. they are igneous rocks with plenty of acidic minerals within. as for biodiversity, housing of bacteria, microfauna, cycling, denitrification etc, there are plenty of resources in this forum for you to search.
  20. yes. anampses chrysocephalus. looked healthy, inquisitive and swimming around. a good sign for an anampses wrasse. however, like any other anampses wrasse in this family, they are very difficult to keep. touchy, timid, shy and hard to feed. btw, they grow up into an adult males with a bright orange face with white markings.
  21. this fish is from australia. but liveaquaria, which is based in the states, imports them. not sure if they are delicate shippers or not. but its super beautiful.
  22. yes its a great article! i using eggcrates reinforced with a mesh below. so its 100% wrasse proof
