  2. here are three more pics of the undescribed flasher wrasse from komodo. compare with octotaenia and togeanensis below. you can see some similarities!
  3. i wrote this piece using the pics from taiwan forum from a guy called pineapple42. digiman found the pics. i want a kingi! but i want peppermint angelfish more!

  5. you can read more about this species here : http://reefbuilders.com/2012/03/06/pseudochromis-luteus/ don't think can find this in the trade. mostly japanese.
  6. i was mistakened. the male of Pseudochromis luteus is the orange one and the female is the grey one with the purple tail. its extremely hard to find info on this dottyback and i had to search using the japanese name. which was hard to find also.
  7. there's a video showing them in the wild taken by richard pyle. but that video's private and i cannot link here. really awesome stuff
  8. a new peppermint angelfish just collected and in quarantine at waikiki quarium! this one was collected by richard pyle outside of cook islands in moorea. the peppermint angelfish underwent a range extension. more info at reefbuilders.
  9. just finished the article on this kingi story. man that is one awesome fish but there was no reason why it shouldnt receive a tank for it's on to showcase its glory. anyway the captive requirements of kingi is totally different from the other angels. it prefers deeper, cooler and more peaceful tank. that's the price to pay i guess, for people who want it all. sometimes they just end up losing it all.
  10. wowwww i could write a FAAANNNTASTIC article with this. i can right he won't mind if i do? i like his forum name pineapple42
  11. the un-id flasher wrasse that looks like octotaenia is from komodo island sanctuary. it is rare locally and is difficult to spot and capture. gerald allen is working on it and it could be a new species.
  12. dr tanaka said that that un id flasher wrasse may be a new species from the komodo islanes
  13. another picture of the very seldom seen Pseudochromis luteus. I LOVE the unique purple tail. found in japan and philippines.
  14. ok let me know when you're ready! the world needs to see your pico sps reef.
  15. tinkers butterfly not found in xmas island right? xmas island is indian ocean? anyway i don't know. but i dont think its a hybrid
  16. no need to have rare fish lah. i need to branch out and write about other things than rare fish though. ok but the article might not be up too soon because i'm backed up with a few unreleased ones now. but i see if i can push it up. you got any updated shots? full tank, top down etc.
  17. there is absolutely no reason why PBT tangs cannot be kept easily without casualty. number 1 cause of death is ich. with proper quarantine, ich is a disease you can eliminate completely. study the life cycle of ich. it is a parasite that you can eliminate for good and prevent it from coming into your system with stringent quarantine. most people here practice the dump and hope approach where fish bought from fish stores and placed into the tank immediately and then hope that no disease show up. unfortunately, disease is prevalent in all fish stores and disagree or not, it's there. many people have the misunderstanding that ich is not possible to eradicate and is part and parcel of reefing but it is not. if you want an ich-less tank, just quarantine every fish. quarantine does not mean putting your fish in a betta box and observing. that is not quarantine. that is just as bad as putting your fish in the tank without any treatment. quarantine is putting your fish in a separate tank and treating it for disease and only once it is disease free, then you place it in your tank. most people in singapore do not have the space or time for quarantine tanks and that's unfortunate, like me. i don't practice quarantine too. but if you don't quarantine, then ich will always be a problem. it will always be there. but it is NOT impossible to get rid. the next best thing will be to obtain healthy fish, stock slowly, under stock and feed your fish well. you will still get some kind of ich outbreak but the severity depends on your discipline and your maintenance. you will never get rid of ich unless you quarantine all your fish from the start. that means before you put any fish in the tank since day 1. that doesn't mean that ich is incurable. it is not found everywhere.
