  1. some ornamental species do reproduce asexually like this. most common is linkia. sp. not the common blue one which is linkia legievata (sp?), but there are other linkia sp. that frequently drop arms off and regrow. these arms are called "comets" because the other 4 tiny arms grow out with the 5th arm being the longest original arm, giving it the appearance of a shooting star, hence the name comet. it will be better if he shows us a photo. but a star reproducing asexually is less common by any means, compared to a melting one. melting starfishes are all too common especially if its a fromia sp. oh with rgds to cumingi, henry and RB bring in before. will let u know if i see any.
  2. Thank you Terryz. more photos of the new tower i erected. the fishes love it for some reason. they are circling around the "tower" and the butterflies and angels are busy pecking away stuff on it. there are 4 huge aiptasia that is keeping my declivis busy i like the overhang. the declivis likes swimming upside down underneath it. some pics at different views.
  3. so nice to see my hammer doing WELL! i love to see my livestock alive in people's tank after selling. i always wonder where they go and how are they.
  4. nope. its exposed to the water and not hidden by any rocks. plus i have a wavebox to ensure water movement throughout the tank.
  5. chances of A is very unlikely. only asterinas reproduce this way very very consitantly. most ornamental starfishes do not or very very VERY rarely. B is unlikely. the only fishes that eat starfishes are triggers, puffers and certain large wrasses. my guess is C due to high nitrates/nitrite/ammonia or bad acclimation.
  6. those are not the true dragon eyes. only 2 rocks of dragon eyes were available but snapped up already.
  7. plenty of nice healthy small to large naoko fairy wrasses at henry and at very very reasonable prices too. golden butterflies are available there too.
  8. bought 2 large liverocks from henry and with some guidance, created this tower. honestly, i love it. it has a nice over hang. and best of all, blocks most of my overflow! temporarily using cable ties to secure it while the epoxy cures. this angle doesn't really show that it blocks the overflow, because i shot it at an angle from the top. but from front view it clearly blocks the overflow very well. more pictures when i remove the cable tie and then a FTS.
  9. wah decided dont want liao. past few days keep coughing, my stomach cough until pain. dun wan to do backbreaking work. however, i will re-do my right side of the tank. removing all the small rocks there and putting some big rocks. planning to cover my overflow box.
  10. pipe organs are normally star shaped like GSP. those are the indo variants. the ones hailing from deep fijian waters boast of flower shaped polyps. they are soft corals that have calcerous skeleton bases. not classified under LPS though. pipe organs are easy if given proper lighting and medium to brisk flow. the problem commonly associated with pipe organs are red slime, diatoms or green films of algae growing over the polyps, and eventually killign them. this can be prevented by good flow and low nutrients. also take note that the polyps are very fragile and breaks/crushes easily. so try not to press against the top. the calcerous skeleton is very very thin and brittle, unlike LPS. pressing against the skeleton will break it if sufficient pressure is applied. most important is the prevention of algae growing on the polyps, and detrisus accumulating between the polyps. thus, good flow is needed. good, but not strong laminar flow. the ones from iwarna are 6 red notes. because they come from fiji.
  11. and i just can't get enough of this fish.
  12. One of the two pipe organs i aquired at iwarna's fiji shipment. the other is green center white petals. can't focus properly. the downside is that the polyps are quite tiny... and not many of this green one came. rest are white.
  13. yes exactly. that's what's so appealing about it. it looks kinda like a hooded. but the last 3 photos have dorsal fin extensions that remind me of the social wrasse complex. nice
  14. nope. never ask. but quite big. the male around 3 inch+
  15. so expensive i have to cancel shopping trips and eat grass for one rhomboid u know. there's this adidas shoe that i want alot but i figured, i already have so many shoes (more than my mum), i skipped it. ideally i want 3-4 rhomboid females. so i will get one per month or so. haha. slowly build. the males are CF today were oh my god beautiful. so tempted to buy and put together with my 4 inch male. but you know that's not possible.
  16. new fijian cirrhilabrus! ARGH FREAKING BEAUTIFUL!!!! I NEED I NEEEED http://glassbox-design.com/2010/nahackys-fairy-wrasse-fiji/
  17. for more exotic corals.... you might wanna ask bigger importers/exporters like iwarna.. they have much better resources and stretch out to many different locals...
  18. I like the wavy effect these sinularias bring in the wavebox.
  19. Added another female rhomboid. The smaller one is the new one. A picture of the females. Male dunno swim to where liao.
  20. more pictures of the declivis.
  21. according to jireh's sponsor on the other forum. they have SUNSET MONTI. can anyone confirm? but the photos used are not theirs so its not WYSIWYG. hijackng's photo is there, and so is nuclear fibre's -.-
  22. iwarna didn't come in cloves. they came in deepwater pipe organs. they did have some cloves from the bali shipment that i bought. quite special but doesnt look like the one you posted.
