  1. thanks CFOH for the pictures. as expected, no real Xenojulis margaritaceus. all of them are Xenojulis montillai. from the pics there appears to be Macropharyngodon lapillus as well as Novaculichthys macrolepidotus
  2. but this is an amaaaaazing video of the peppermint. probably the best out there. it's so happy and healthy now which is great. that abei is another legend.
  3. hmm..likely to be a mix up maybe? X. montillai is a philippines endemic while X. margaritaceus is known from Australia and PNG. there are no pictures of X. margaritaceus. Only kuiter's 400+ wrasse bible has the pictures of it, and i have that book in PDF and hard copy. i can't post here coz i think it's copy right but i can PM you what it looks like. it has more pink markings and is very much different from X. montillai. in fact it isn't as pretty.
  4. joseph, this is Xenojulis montillai. It is commonly misnamed as X. margaritaceus, but the latter is only available from PNG. below is a pic from Dr. Sanjay Joshi. It can be differentiated from X. margaritaceus by the chest. X. margaritaceus has pink sinuous markings. since i've not seen the one at LCK i'm not sure which of the two species it is since they're both often mixed up. but if it's from PNG, it's likely to be X. margaritaceus.
  5. Xenojulis margaritaceus is an extremely rare wrasse that is hardly owned. the genus Xenojulis only contains two species. X. montillai and X. margaritaceus. X. montillai is very rare and its owned by few people, including tony vargas and sanjay joshi. it's not rare in the wild but it hardly ever comes to the trade. wrasse lovers you do NOT want to miss this. Xenojulis margaritaceus is even harder to find because it's from PNG. this should be the first one in Singapore. wrasse lovers you do not want to miss this.
  6. brasiliensis! been awhile since we saw them hit the scene.
  7. Steve robinson is still in jail for the illegal clippertons but these angels were not collected by Cortez Marine. clarion has been offered for sale a few times already. LCK has brought them in a few times before, CF too. hopefully we'll see some smaller ones this time round.
  8. not rare at all. common in the states only rare in singapore because no demand and expensive.
  9. do you have facebook? if you do, you can add koji wada. if he accepts your friend request you can see occasional updates from him on his stock.
  10. blueharbor never rests when it comes to rare fish! their latest shipment. a juvenile sanguineus hogfish and three guyanensis butterflies. the two in the tank on the right (one inside betta box) are juveniles! there's another fish in the left sided tank inside the betta box. can't make out what it is. there's also another fish behind the big guyanensis. the tail is yellowish. can see the reflection on the top.
  11. yep sorry didn't realize that photo was so small. here's a big one. it's very much healthier now.
  12. but i agree with your dom, now that reborn is not here, we lost a big source of rare fish esp bandits.
  13. True but these are rare fish with ready supply to wiling buyers. Such fish are rare but occasionally make it all over the world. But if we're talking about debelius, opercularis, narcosis and Peppermint etc, we stand very little chance. Because these are exclusive fishes and unless you have personal connections with the collectors, it will be very hard to get and also very expensive.
  14. also new naoko wrasses. some acclimating while some have been there for awhile.
  15. Serranus phoebe. This is a super rare basslet from the carribean but also one of the most affordable species.
  16. CF also has three colini angels. one of them is very healthy and is pecking on pellets. a difficult fish. if you've been reading the latest fish news, you might have stumbled upon the brand new super rare narcosis angelfish collected by rufus kimura. colini angelfish is the closest relative to the narcosis angel.
  17. yes it's a eibli x lemonpeel, and i think it is slightly aberrated. i took some photos to write for reefbuilders. will post here incase anyone is interested.
  18. did you see the lemonpeel x eibli hybrid as well as the Phoebe basslet?
  19. rare fish, even when caught, are treated differently from normal fish. the narcosis angels and claire were specifically targeted to koji wada by blueharbor. they did not even consider to send to anyone else. so was the hogfishes and the neopercularis. you need some very serious connections to pull off this kind of shipment through first hand dealings. otherwise your best bet would be to buy from blueharbor which will go through two dealings already, and the price will be much higher. there's simply no fight. we don't have anyone powerful enough here in singapore to deal directly with the fish catchers.
  20. getting the opercularis from indian ocean is much easier than getting the neopercularis from the pacific. hong kong recently had a juvenile from maldives. they look virtually identical.
