  1. the compressor is being done now. omg all the drilling!!! MY EYES ARE TWITCHING. SO LOUD!
  2. usually they can be placed together with no problem as they are in the same genus and family. but i've experienced this before also. lol. guess its individual coral
  3. for that very reason i hate turbo snails. mine used to love climbing into the overflow and then die there. only to stink it up so badly i cannot contain my already ingested food.
  4. yes. get your pH to around 8.2 ish
  5. you can use an air tubing, but you need to tie a rigid stick to support the air tubing. defeats the purpose anyway as you can use a balloon stick as raydiative mentioned.
  6. flameback is more reefsafe than flame angel IMO. i don't know what others think. but they are generally quite reefsafe.
  7. omgoodness. psychedelic man! UPS FOR THIS LOVELY PIECE
  8. lol very slow liao. any slower and it'll stop hehe
  9. these are radioactive dragon eyes yes. the green version
  10. nope. tried everything. the residue is calcium carbonate caused by mixing too much salt at one go. because i dumped one whole pail of salt into the water, momentarily the pH and calcium levels will increase dramatically and not slow enough for it to diffuse and reach saturated levels. this caused the calcium to precipitate out of solution. like how it will happen when you dose too much calcium and buffer at once. it's called the "snowstorm" effect. calcium carbonate is very poorly soluble in water (if it's soluble at all...). the only way to remove it is to do so manually as it won't go away by itself. so i've emptied my sump, scrubbed it clean, and remove all traces of calcium carbonate from there. now the problem is the main tank lol. it's still a winter wonderland. well, it's a very tedious and expensive lesson to be learnt cost me 1 oceanic bucket..
  11. lol yep. slowly lo. hehe. holidays anyway.
  12. lol. i still need to find a way to get the precipitated stuff out o.o the bulk of it is resting on my glass, bottom and pumps as a fine white powdery layer. well at least it looks better compared to yesterday. so i think my rocks and sand will be put on hold first
  13. hey guys i think the precipitation is the dreaded "calcium carbonate snowstorm" lol. the sg is at 1.025 which means all the salt has properly dissolved already. i say its the CaCO3 ppt because i dumped a bucket of salt into the tank at once and try dissolving everything at one go instead of doing it slowly. this will naturally cause an influx in Ca levels and not to mention pH in the body of water (main tank), before it got a chance to dissolve and get into the sump. the influx of Ca and pH will cause an imbalance and precipitate out. i'll skip the buffer system and scientific jargon for next time. not in the mood to be chim now. hmmm... noobie mistake on my part since i never use salt mix before (lol) dam embarrasing to say. so, SRC gurus. advice? let the thing sit for few days? or do water change? lol. dam sad. haven start yet problem already haha at least it's good that it happen now before anything goes in lol
  14. the water is clearer but still very cmi. alot of residue at the bottom of the tank. hmm... siphon out? lol
  15. urgh. terryz you're right. i just cut 2 egg crates to put into my overflow, and total of 4 sponge. so overflow compartment now have 2 levels of sponge. sump tank i stuff sponge temporarily between the partitions. hope all this will trap the white residue. and the sponge lessen the noise from the overflow alot. but there's an occasional gurgling sound. i need to do it properly again tomorrow. do at 3am sure half-baked one hehe.
  16. it was a juvenile. scientist studied it for 2 months in the 5m shallow water habitat. and it just disappeared one day. maybe kena eaten. OR SOMEONE CAUGHT IT.
  17. C. abei has been found in japan u know? at only FIVE METERS.
  18. wah thanks for the compliment. i didn't know i leave such a good impression! lol just kidding hmm... i dunno. but i think african? just make sure you know, african flame backs are Centropyge acanthops. they have orange tail. brazillian ones are Centropyge aurantonotus. they have blue tail. up to you which one you like. otherwise, both looks identical
  19. actually i've been using oceanic salt for my QT and holding tubs for the past month with no problem. i think coz it's a small volume and i add in abit of salt and stir, and then abit more then stir... but for my tank i just dump the ENTIRE bucket into the tank straight. wth lah. brainless.
  20. if i spend as much time and effort on my studies like i do with my tank, i can be a master class genius with like 100 PHD. lol. too bad. im just an average 18 year old boy studying in an average school with very average results. leading a very average life, very average. but a very NOT average hobby!
  21. EVIL LAUGH! i know lah. i just dam lazy to do something about it now can? -.- its like, 1am in the morning man. ask me put egg crate, then put filter wool, aiyoh man. tomorrow tomorrow lah! procrastinate hehe
