  1. depends more on what livestock... shallow water fishes coming from hawaii where the water is cooler can adapt to higher temperatures. like yellow tangs. even water cooler there, they can adapt to 29-30C no problem. it's not the location. it's the type of fish deeper water fishes cannot tolerate warm water. such as bandit angels. put them in a tank without chiller and you can kiss your bandit goodbye.
  2. ok so i've dealt with a handful of crap since i started this tank. diatom outbreak - fixed it massive hair algae problem - fixed it. stop growing back! massive bryopsis outbreak - fixed it too! stop growing back already. now i'm dealing with dinoflagellates. hmm...topping up with DI water, doing WC, NO3, PO4 = 0. but the dino won't die off. i;ll be patient and read up and try other methods in dealing with them. will update in a few weeks! until then, lemon has gone to war.
  3. midnight not nice. domino nicer
  4. no need to be expensive and unobtainable. like you humeralis, marcellae, aya, mulleri i agree all are exciting fish you can wait and aim for. both your coradion also! but the heniochus, susumi, black clowns are not. but if you like can liao. my tank oso got nonsense fish like longnose butterfly, blennies... now waiting for my ventralis
  5. ur dream stocklist all the common fish!! no kick one!!!
  6. im also a fan of small fish. but some fish cannot get small one. like marginalis, interruptus, wrought iron, altivelis. not say cannot get. but very difficult. like marginalis and altivelis. because small ones supplier dont have and so difficult to even get the adult already. interruptus and WI small one is too expensive. so some fish i just have to make do with slightly larger specimen. and then use it as a show piece lor.
  7. why not. marginalis reborn willing to bring in. it's not cheap but it's something worth bringing in. and not risky like interruptus or WI.
  8. altivelis is rare coz no demand. like marginalis. if you make special request and bring it in, you might get to see small one. the gold specs on the body and the increased amount of yellow is just so attractive.
  9. this is alpha male ignitus. the red tail is same as the one you posted but the body colour abit different, which is negligible coz the fish could be displaying different levels of excitement. also, note your original picture there is a red spot on the base of the pectoral fin. the alpha ignitus also has the red spot. thus, the picture you posted is ignitus. thank you thank you. sherlock lemon has cracked the case
  10. Look at this. this is alpha male dispar see the pink head separated by the orange body
  11. no need cold water. altivelis range overlaps with marginalis and is a shallow water butterfly. yes it's big but possible to get 3 inch, which is still ok lah.
  12. mine is somewhere inbetween those two. not as pink as the first one but not so yellow as the 2nd.
  13. no. alpha male dispar have yellow saddle that separates the pink head from the body. this one looks different. maybe a hybrid or ignitus?
  14. the seller is stupid, ignorant and a fool for doing that. sure he may get away with it this time but the next time he gets stung and starts crying in the hospital, then he will know.
  15. like some guy just PM me in reefcentral. he say someone in SG told him the price of golden angels and orange shoulder tangs are USD $120 each at CF! i don't know who the shameless liar is but $120 each for orange shoulder and golden angels respectively is just ridiculous. anyway, Heniochus intermedius is a gorgeous bannerfish from red sea. should have asked irene to bring in also lol. but the size usually too big bah. quite a turn off but the colour and shape is gorgeous. i dislike most other banner fishes.
  16. walt smith posted this in his weekly stock in facebook as A. hyacinthus. i myself also dunnot but there's another photo in his facebook that shows the whole colony in a better angle and got the typical hyacinthus shape. bah. everything looks the same to me. anyway here's another pic from liveaquria.
  17. yaaaaaaa la! told u its chrysozonus. but nvm both didn't look as nice as i expected so did not buy. i'll just wait for coradion altivelis even though most of the mare big.
  18. looks like you're ready got the red hot Acropora hyacinthus
  19. baby yasha goby! bet you've never seen one before! neither have i!
