in real life the line is more easily seen. the picture doesn't show it. that is the male colouration for randall's. two purple and two orange stripes. only when they are alpha male then the stripes gets so sink and gorgeous like the photo i posted. anyway i don't really like anthias, but bartletts and randalls are ok since they are colourful and very easy. all others are either too boring or too difficult. my favourite is the endangered and super rare Pseudanthias regalis from Marquesas (shown below). won't get to see them since there's no collection there. there are also many rare and gorgeous ones likes the infamous Ventralis anthias, the flavicauda anthias from fiji only, leucozonas from bali etc etc. but alot of them are too difficult, too expensive or too rare. anthias are a tough family of fishes as far as price, obtainability and difficulty is concerned

it will take very long. now there are 2 very faint stripes on the body. not shown in the photo. i have a larger male and 3 females. when the male display, the stripes become more evident.

Digiman, i got this email from Glassbox design. Hi Lemon, I wanted to thank you for pointing out P. rubrolineatus. Despite it staring me, and many prominent Japanese fish collectors, writers and publishers in the face, the species slipped through the cracks! I've since discussed this species with Tetsuo Otake and Kiyoshi Endoh and they have confirmed. It was previously unknown in the Japanese market, and likely would have gone so for sometime without your observation. Here's an excerpt from the message I received: "Pseudanthias rubrolineatus is officially founded in Japan, and named as "イトヒキコハクハナダイ, Itohikikohaku hanadai"in Japanese last month. Therefore, it is P. rubrolineatus!" Thanks for always keeping me on my toes! Best, Eric GLASSBOXDESIGN Would like to thank you for pointing out to us that is is rubrolineatus. if not for you, none of us would have known. so this email should be credited to you. -

burgess butterfly is the most common of the 5 Roaops sub genus. they can be commonly found here in singapore but small ones are very very hard to find. the pair for sale at DD is 3.5 and 4 inches. huge if you ask me. -

roseafascia in the wild. i want mine to grow up like this. but this wrasse is seriously aggressive. comparable to scotts and pylei! my marjorie is constantly switching back from male to female because of the roseafascia. it was male, then female, then male and now, becoming female again. despite the other females, it's no use. the roseafascia's assertion is too strong. -

tonozukai looks very similar to rubripinnis, but has an elongated dorsal fin similar to whip fin fairy. it's found in malaysia and indonesia if i'm not wrong, but we never see them here. they used to be very commonly shipped to japan but lately, they don't get them even at japan too. don't know why.
