  1. from coral farm right? there were 3 pieces left today and very very good size except for the large one. good buy, and at a fantastic price. treasure your assarius butterfly. it's a beautiful and rare species.
  2. cf have many marginalis butterflies. all are healthy and gorgeous, eating mysis. smallest ones are going at 6 red notes after discount. bigger ones are progressively more expensive. also have vew few pieces of the rare west australian butterflyfish, Chaetodon assarius. left one piece at 6 red notes but not sure if aunty is exporting or not.
  3. thanks! yes using MH. no hood. i have asked Iwarna to DIY a screen for me to prevent wrasse jumping. it's very sleek and neat. i will update with pics later. thanks nigel! hehe thanks. indeed and i am pleased it is doing well
  4. big fowlr tank wif many butterflies and angels. i like the pauci, marginalis and muelleri. so fat
  5. My most prized fish. This was a very unexpected surprise from Koji back in August, when my tank wasn't even ready. Because it came so early, i had trouble holding it. Thanks to fuel who kept this fish safely with him for months until my tank was ready. Meiacanthus are easy fish but not always do they start out that way. This fish refused to eat anything for weeks, and when it finally did, it only ate fish eggs. it also came with internal parasites which rendered it unable to gain weight despite heavy feedings of fish eggs. treatment with praziquantel soaked fish eggs did most of the work, but still it refused to eat anything else. then suddenly one day, as if by magic, it begun eating pellets. it has gotten bolder and more greedy over the weeks and has finally gained weight back to normal now. a most harrowing experience.
  6. FTS. The tank is still v young and haven't matured enough. So it still looks raw. Must thank my friends, they know who they are, for giving me and supplying me with so many nice coral frags and what not. I am predominantly a fish person and only usually buy leftover corals. As such most of my corals are common and not so special. don't ask me the names of the SPS i have coz i know squat! Will update the FTS in a month or two time when the tank starts maturing slowly.
  7. aussie copperband as in Australian caught copperband butterflies? or the Australian endemic marginalis butterflyfish (Chelmon marginalis)
  8. C. assarius is rare and hard to get. it's diet in the wild is more planktonic than sessile, and thus it accepts floating aquarium food easily. mysis, pellets and other frozen foods are readily consumed in a healthy fish. There has only been one piece brought in about 2 years ago by M3MORPH from Dejong marine. it is not a v colorful butterfly so it is not often collected. moreover, western australia fishes are rare and hard to come by
  9. the last dragonet is tentatively IDed as S. morrisoni by Kevin Kohen and Matthew wittenrich. there are also two confusing species from the philippines that are less red and circulating around. these are S. moyeri and S. bartelsi
  10. The last and final red scooter that can be confused and found in the same batch of red rubies is this dragonet. I am not sure of its identity at the moment and not sure if it is described or not. perhaps a dragonet expert can chime in. The difference in pectoral fins are obvious enough to separate from all the above. top and side shots to show.
  11. This is the 2nd species that occasionally appears and can be found mixed within a batch of red ruby dragonets. Unlike the red ruby dragonet, this is not an unknown species to science. The identity of this dragonet species is Synchiropus tudorjonesi. Although not unknown, this is a relatively new species to science and has only been described last year. The ID of this dragonet is fairly easy to figure out. The fish sports a blackish brown band along the flank horizontally. The pelvic fins are not colored yellow. here are side and top shots to show the difference in the red rubies.
  12. Here is the female of the same species above, the ruby red dragonet. Females are colored the same, except that the dorsal fin is very short and not elaborately flag like in the male. Also note the pelvic fins. Same intense yellow, but this time without the greenish-black edging.
  13. Recent months this year have revealed a new dragonet sp that is unknown scientifically, and still relatively new to the trade. To add to the confusion, there are numerous new "red dragonets" that are appearing along side this new species, now dubbed colloquially as "ruby red dragonets". To prevent further confusion, do note that none of these are to be confused with the red scooter blennies. Here is the original "red ruby" dragonets. thought to be a new species and not scientifically named yet. Here are pictures taken today for reference only depicting the male. As you can see, the overall coloration is intense red and not white speckled as seen in the normal red scooters. take note of the pectoral fins, which are bright yellow and edged in dark-green to black. the base of each pectoral fin has a large brown spot.
  14. Also aioliops megastigma dart gobies, squat lobsters and urocaridella yellow arrow shrimp
