Don't have to keep your lights on all the time. Lighting period I guess should be as close to what they get in their natural habitat, same goes for all corals in general I guess. The type and intensity of lights you use is also another factor, I mean you could be using 2 tubes of PL lights or 250 watt MH, then lighting period will vary as well. I think a set of decent T5HO will be sufficient for the anemone.

Oops sorry guys I replied too quickly this morning without reading the rest of the replies. I misread the original post as a criticism of the forum and Singapore in general. I usually reply instinctively when I see people play the 'democracy/freedom' card. Apologies all round if anyone took offence. If anyone disagrees with my views you're always welcome to pm me. -

Bro, I have to disagree with you. The thread was locked down after veering off course and there were a lot of accusations and insinuations from different parties. I'm surprised the thread lasted as long as it did (more than a week I think), but it was not deliberate censorship as you are implying. I think the admin gave us the freedom to voice our views in that thread, but it went beyond the topic and had to be shut down to prevent an all out flame war. It think it is also unfair that you did not reply to the thread after that first post, and come back almost after a month to talk about the meaning of democracy and lack of freedom -- it's not like you were not given the opportunity to engage the forum, we did ask you for updates on the situation in that thread which ran for 6 or 7 pages. Edit: I also find it ironic that you equate confrontation to freedom -
LOL! If that was real I would pay good money for it.

About 5cm from the edge. This skimmer is very demanding, requires consistent water levels.
-
It's a white line on the side of the body.
-
Your water level is too high, check the side marking, it should be more or less exactly at that point if not your skim mate will always be clear or no bubbles at all.

Yah man, I was blown away by the harlequin shrimp pics. I missed out on the latest FTS, the collection of RBTA is very unique

Price wise is it cheaper than the 50mm AFS? Sorry to turn your thread into a photo discussion, but I don't keep up with photography news one, it seems that this lens appeared out of the blue and suddenly everyone is singing its praise haha.
-
Cannot be better than Nikon's 60 year old flagship prime lens right? I think the lens is damn solid with good colours on its own already, so I'm quite skeptical that a 3rd party lens will perform better.

Once domestic LED light bulbs fall below the $30 range, I might consider changing all the lights at home. But really the future is creeping up on us fast, might be sooner than later before other major players other than Philips release their own version.

YES!

Tsk tsk, never kapok and run away? LOL

Alternatively, can leave a gap where the light fixture is. There is an arowana tank in my office and we have to put egg crates with weight to prevent it from jumping. As for light, it looks properly illuminated, but I don't have the means to measure or compare la.
-
Very tempted to, but they are nicer in a big tank
-
Oh I shot most of my tank photos recently with my 50mm 1.4, then crop the pics after. My camera is 12.6mp, so even if I crop 20% of the picture, it will be more than enough for posting on the web. I don't archive my tank pics, nor do I need to print wall sized banners, so I don't really care about cropping and resizing.

Pet shop or even sundry shops in the neighbourhood sells plastic netting in rolls, quite cheap. I use that to prevent my dog from running out of the house haha. You might wanna consider using egg crates though. Rigid and easy to lift for maintainence. I find that the netting will scroll and bunch together, always touch the water and won't stay still.

I don't think he is downright rude la. He rubs people the wrong way sometimes, but if he knows you are offended, he will apologise or explain himself. Funny you should mention this cos 2 weeks ago, I was scolded by him in front of other customers. Reprimanded like a little boy leh, cos I used my bare hands to pick out the "tidbit container" with the fish inside. Of course I didn't think I did anything wrong, I see people picking corals and such with their bare hands at other LFS too, moreover it was just my finger tips touching the water. The uncle said he didn't like that cos some customers had dirty hands or skin infections which will contaminate the water. It sounded like a plausible reason for his outburst, and I knew that his shipment just arrived hours earlier and he must be damn shagged and bad tempered from unpacking the fish and changing water, so I chose not to get offended. I just told him 'okay lor, now that you tell me, then I know'. My point of this story is, I don't know how he was rude to others, but in my case I wouldn't write him off as rude just because my ego was bruised by the scolding. I continued to enjoy good service after that, just as before the incident

Cos I think I told you on msn mah. Either that or I meant to tell you but forgot.

105mm too slow cannot shoot fish I dunno about the AFS version though, that one is definitely out of my budget. People like me who like to talk nonsense all day long usually come up with quite entertaining captions, I dunno why haha.

What's this?! Brotherhood of the Flame Wrasse? Hahaha... I feel like an outcast Very nice fish by the way, hellbliss. I feel like a parrot since I'm basically replying all your respective thread with "nice flame wrasse" haha.
