Tunze 9002 nano skimmer, everything fits nicely into the back except the collection cup which is about 9 to 10cm in diameter Will canibalise the bulky skimmer cup and fit a tupperware onto it this weekend FTS after I fiddle around with the scaping this weekend la, very unstable now, the snails are knocking things all over.
-
Haven't start using yet, cos the collection cup doesn't fit under the hood The after market replacement cup costs S$85 after shipping! Will probably DIY a collection cup from tupperware like Lemon suggested Yah man, I like it a lot!

That's the yellow and yellow zoa I got from j-quad lor. Took photo same afternoon I bought it, so some polyps are still stressed How you identify it as bam bam? Colour or pattern?
-
Actually most snails will leave hair algae alone, especially the ones that grow too long. But crabs are evil, so you've got to decide if you want to take the risk Alternatively you can buy fishes that feed on hair algae, lawnmower blenny comes to mind. However, you've got to plan for it's diet once the hair algae is all gone.

Don't be fooled by the word "student"... Met him in person, so much bigger than me, looks like he could beat me up. HAHAHAHA! -
Haha dunno is it the LFS's fault or is it me, all my lifestock so corrupted

The vitamin c is finally working its magic on my yumas! (before pics on page 2 of this thread) And this is something unexpected, because I've never been at home in the afternoons to view my tank. Took a look last Sunday afternoon, and the purple/orange yuma rock suddenly appears so sexy. I think it's not entirely the work of vitamin c, cos by evening, the colour dulled a little. The ambient lighting during the day probably brings out a more intense colour.

Forgot to mention earlier in the thread, this cute little red marble sea star bought at the request of my gf. Had a hard time hunting for it My cleaner shrimp molesting the mandarin fish yesterday evening
-
I prefer to focus my "fake" macro shots manually. When you shoot up close to the tank, the tank light is so bright and that means less contrast for the auto focus to lock. Anyway, all these snapshots shoot for fun one, I don't really mind the imperfections
-
Nice, lets hope the male will show the way and teach the new mandarin to eat pellets hahahaha. By the way, the pellets you feed is it the green bottle one?
-
He told me that he pours 1 teaspoon of the powder into the main tank directly. Shouldn't be a problem since it is very soluble, but I dilute it with a bit of water before pouring straight in. Hope j-quad doesn't mind me answering for him
-
I still mix the powder with tank water, but I dose the mixed solution into the main tank. My only worry is the powdered stuff "burning" the corals when it comes into contact.

You can always resell it at a small loss and treat the difference as a "rental". If not, you can off all non critical equipment first to reduce heat, and cool it with a fan. Quite chilly today, it's raining here. Edit: You can call Derek from Pacific Coo at 97979910 for chiller repair.

Aiyah, I used the wrong smiley in my picture. Your trademark smiley is -____- not <__<

I think you meant MS "paint"? hahaha. If not Bamboshark will have to stab his foot when clicking in order to be in pain when opening the picture. -
Can't help much, but here's a couple of Resun chillers on Pasar Malam: http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...=0&p=793793 http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...showtopic=77806 These are pretty cheap, you can buy them cheap and sell off cheaper when you're done, as good as rental

Hehehe. Nice, just like my very first set up right down to the iron stand, except no chiller. Any intention to keep interesting invertebrates or crabs? -
Hahaha. Show more pics of your tank leh, internet pic of zoas not counted Lemonlemon and I were saying that day, you are like the Godfather of Zoas - if you say something is inexpensive, nobody will be able to sell it in pasar malam section hahaha. In case nobody has met bro amby before, here's a rare picture of him:
-
Where got skills? Simple snapshots only, if you noticed, only the first picture is in focus haha. It's hard to manually focus the camera on moving targets, so I compensate sharpness for interesting actions. PM-ed you re: clownfish. Bought from ML before cny this year.
-
How come only 2 fish left? Any recent FTS?
-
Speaking of hawkfish... Some old pics of the casualties in the 3ft tank crash one or two years ago. Falco's hawkfish, I missed it so much that I bought one more 2 weeks back, but it died too, within a day 2 of the 4 common clowns:

My first 8G/30L Boyu Nano tank... help needed?
albinosage replied to lostboy_cal's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Oh forgot to add one crucial point: I wash the rocks with old water from main tank during water change! This way, the sea water you change out won't go to waste, and you will not experience so much die off as compared with washing with fresh water. With the sand, you can rinse one time with the old sea water, then after that let it cycle in the pail with old or new sea water. -
