  1. Yup, melamine foam is a very fine abrasive, it works by removing micro layers of the glass to even out the scratch. I think 10 minutes a week of scrubbing won't cause any damage lah, probably will have to scrub for decades or centuries to actually weaken the glass haha.
  2. Actually, they look terrestrial, doesn't look like any marine creature I've seen. Kinda like bed bugs. All dead and settled at the bottom. I'm quite sure they grew or bloated from the water cos the jerry can was sealed, nothing inside the water when I first brought it home.
  3. Oh yah, I had a handful of these in my bucket of NSW last month too. I bought too much water, so I left them in a covered bucket with a powerhead running. 2 weeks later when using the water, I found these black/brown bugs in the water, quite a lot of them. It's not some bugs that flew in, that I know for sure, cos they appeared in a sealed jerry can as well. Looks like sesame seed
  4. Hi all, just want to share the results on my 4ft glass tank I got from using a sponge similar to Magic Eraser for 10 minutes, the product I mentioned in the earlier post: Before: After: The sponge was sold as "Sponge King", bought from a neighbourhood hardware store for $2.50. From what little I can understand from the Japanese words and pictures on the packaging, it is made or developed in Germany, and is recommended for removing scratches from the paint work of cars. Most of the fine scratches were removed, and the deeper ones became less visible. I think it would be gone completely with long term usage. I did some searching to dig up the following article where I learned about this material, also known as melamine foam: http://blog.fragd.it/2009/03/03/a-magic-to...n-your-acrylic/
  5. Should be a scooter blenny. Where did you buy it? I'm looking for one too
  6. Why don't like the red colour? Clash with the colours of your tank, your nemos fashion conscious is it?
  7. First pic top left corner, left side of the tank, can see yellow tail, dunno issit blue tang or damsel. Edit: Just saw the latest pic, right side - purple tang haha. Bro yamashido, your pics serve a good purpose: playing "where's waldo" hahaha.
  8. I know la, I was half joking. If you zoom with the browser, the pic still low res mah No apologies needed, I was kidding The rocks are really well worth the price, very nice!
  9. Not true leh, you ever felt the heat emitted from MH lights? Not advisable to use without chiller, serious. As for the canopy, I was able to keep the temp at around 29 degrees by leaving the front lid open slightly. With a fan, I was able to get 26 degrees on a cool day, and 27.5 degrees on a hot day.
  10. All corals, only spotted one fish I think. I think the bioload should be quite low like that la. I'm puzzled why only one month then all the rocks fully encrusted in purple coraline algae Bro yamashido, bigger pics leh, my eyes are hurting
  11. Yah I just saw his tank pics, haha. Your peter pan wrasse is solid yellow at the moment? Quite nice wat, look like banana hahaha. Yah I bought this one for pest control too. PM-ed you about where I bought it. Coral life, very old stock cos I don't usually use salt mix. Not hardworking lah, poor - cannot afford automated systems like yours mah. I bet your tank cabinet is like batcave, full of gadgets hahaha.
  12. Eh bro, if you are pissed off at the temperature of the 48 watt stock lighting, I think your water will boil with the HQI viper MH lights leh Using any chiller?
  13. MI's good friend looks very nice and perfect! Maybe it's time for a FTS?
  14. Don't worry, it's probably going through it's teenage rebellion stage, neither here nor there, finding its identity hahaha. I really like the black spots though, good thing it will be this way for quite a while.
  15. Nice acquisitions lately bro, especially lemon's MI, it looks damn happy. More pics leh, spend so much on your camera, time for the canon to show its worth
  16. I'm not so sure if the air cargo industry or oil cartels will feel the pinch if we stop buying fishes I know that's not what you meant, but really, this is not a problem exclusive to the marine trade. Even domestic freight charges have increased quite a lot recently in the states. Blame it on the postal workers lah, always go on strike hehehe.
  17. I read about a brand of household sponge, "Magic Sponge" or something like that. Some member on an american board accidentally found that it removes scratches from acrylic tanks when he was cleaning algae. It is possible to buff off the scratches on a glass tank with really fine abrasive media like that sponge or jeweler's sandpaper, if they are not too deep. Best to practice on a junk piece of glass to get a feel before proceeding to the tank, if the scratch is near the top half of the tank, you can even lower the water level to buff out the scratch before polishing, if you are afraid of disturbing the livestock. The main problem is finding a suitable fine abrasive media - removing scratches in a tank is not impossible
  18. Porcelain crab with a new change of "clothes"
  19. Stoning after a large meal Still feeling peckish
  20. Feeding time!!! Everybody gets a fair share of the food, no shoving or bullying please!
  21. Pictures of my yellow wrasse, finally came out of hiding
  22. Wah, your orange crush acan is really nice!! Repost the pic from your thread, hope you don't mind: I'm trying not to add anymore big items for the time being, my tank inhabitants seem to be happy with the way things are at the moment, everybody take one corner to relak haha. I'll wait a few more weeks before thinking of what to get next. Afraid that if I add or remove anything, they will get confused or fight over territory. I would have given away the bubble long ago, if not for the clown haha.
  23. :D Bro bigbird, your entire post is mature and reflects on your senior status in this hobby. Spoken like a true gentleman Since you have spoken up and told your side of the story, I think we should also back off and let the matter rest. (me especially hehehe... I'm not as mature or classy as bigbird, I don't try to hide that ) legendz1987, I hope you can learn something from bigbird. Ask yourself why everyone was jumping on you over this matter, was everybody out to demonise you, or is it because of the unapologetic stunts you keep pulling? When you find the answer to that, maybe you will earn the same respect I have for members like bigbird here. (edit - I don't mean earn my respect, I mean respect from everyone in general) The rest of us, well, I guess we learnt a valuable lesson in the proper use of smileys and emoticons in this thread
  24. Tsk tsk.... Both of you forgot to add smiley at the end of the post! Legendz so smiley and cheerful, it is rude to call him a ding dong head without smiling back :)
  25. Yup, I used to use natural sea water, only switched back to salt mix last weekend. I think the constant water change could have disturbed the corals. You talking about Ah Siang's acan right? I don't have. The LPS in the tank is a bubble coral
