  1. how long hv u had the skimmer? it might not hv broken in yet. if u do frequently dip ur hands into the tank or hv juz fed ur fishes, u will notice that the foam will oso not rise as high as per normal. btw, juz adjust the flow to abt 1 inch below the o ring. no need max.
  2. coz in my present company, i might juz get outstationed anytime.
  3. hi Travy, for all ur qns, like info on AZ-NO3, u can juz perform a search in SRC.
  4. in the 1st place, why do u wanna hv this 3 tier system? wat is the height of piping from tank 3 to 1? how much vol can ur overflow pipe take? pls take into consideration the significant head loss if the height is considerably high.
  5. as per ur drawing, ur overflow wun work. take a look at the thread below. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=12846 or alternatively, u can approach Ian for a I-box,
  6. my experience wif option 3, seachem de-nitrator. piece of junk. option 4, Aquamedic denitrator, works well, but needs time and patience tuning. other options never try b4, so no comments. note, these r purely from my own experience.
  7. why dun u approach cookiemunster for ur KR & CR? a pretty good deal if u ask me.
  8. it will be better if u can say what ur budget is like? new or 2nd hand skimmer? H.O.T or in-sump?
  9. hi Guiness, looking forward to meeting u and ur westie when i m back in spore. btw, Austin is oredi getting better after a visit to the vet yesterday.
  10. if u feel that ur corals r doing fine, there is no need to put so much emphasis on ur nitrate levels, but nuisance algae might break out. IMHO, 2 many reefers nowadays r 2 concerned abt achieving zero nitrates. be forewarned that having 0 nitrates does not mean that ur system is ok. ways to reduce nitrates: 1. Jaulbert / Berlin method 2. denitrator 3. Refugium 4. AZ-NO3 coupled wif effective skimming 5. upgrade to better skimmer 6. RO/DI 7. others........ Ivcap, i hv used nitrate minus from tetra b4, i find it is a load of craps. doesn't work for me.
  11. diff is a surface skimmer attachment and a media basket (for biological or chemical media) is included in the deluxe. mored details below. http://www.redseafish.com/Main.asp upgrade to a prizm deluxe skimmer? how big is ur setup? what r u keeping? only H.O.T skimmers can be considered? if ur option is only H.O.T skimmers, for the price u r paying for a new deluxe, u might wanna consider other H.O.T skimmers. e.g. AquaC Remora, Deltec, etc......
  12. the RS surface skimmer shld be readily available in petmart or reborn.
  13. any other contributions??? need these magazines badly to kill boredom.
  14. dun hv, coz i m in Gunma (province where Initial D originated), not tokyo or shinjuku.
  15. hmmmm........ i hv not decided yet. but most likely, i will. if i m staying put in spore.
  16. thx tineng for the info. but i want these mags badly to pass my boring time in japan. all i can do now is read up on articles on the web. any place selling this CORALS mag??? i need a place which is more accessible for my fiancee to get it for me. any other contributions??? TIA!!!
  17. sad news........ my austin the westie is sick. 2 weeks ago, ear infection. now, eye infection; 1 eye can barely open........ and he's only 1 yr 4 mths old. what next??? think i hv to look for a ENT vet liaoz.
  18. his tank is real beautiful!!! look at the colors attained by the sps, and he acheived all of these with not feeding any planktonic food to the corals at all.
  19. IME, the prizm is not as bad as it sounds. will do alrite for a 2.5 footer. The Prizm combines an efficient 18-blade TurboJet injector together with Red Sea`s Patented convergent-divergent flow technology Reaction Chamber. as for the macro needlewheel, i hv no experience wif it. u can do a search on it.
  20. 2 moderate skimmers does not equate to 1 good skimmer. for ur budget of $100, u can look for a 2nd hand red sea prizm hang on skimmer or a macro needlewheel in the pasar malam forum. they shld do reasonably well for ur 2.5 footer. but again, it depends on ur stocking levels, maintenace, etc.
  21. My colleagues are coming to Japan next week and I need good recommendations for Reefkeeping/Marine magazines for them to bring over to me. Pls state, 1. title of magazine (preferably lots of illustrations) 2. where to get (preferably borders or city area) 3. price thxs.
  22. 0.2ppm??? even sps will be happy with this reading. dun worry abt it. juz keep up with ur regular maintenance and do not overstock.
