  1. add ur LRs slowly and patiently spread over a period of time.
  2. juz received this e mail, dunno how true it is. anyway, FYI. Pls be informed that the LTA has contracted six traffic wardens from a private company at $34,000 a year to take down the licence plate number, make and colour of vehicles that intrude into bus-lanes at peak hours. Take note of the operation hours: Bus-lane operation hrs: 7.30 am to 9.30 am and 4.30 pm to 7 pm (weekdays) 7.30 am to 9.30 am and 11.30 am to 2 pm (Saturdays) LTA has intensified their operations at the following areas: 1) Eunos Link 2) Hougang Ave 3 3) Jurong Town Hall Rd 4) Lorong Chuan 5) Orchard Rd 6) Upper Serangoon Rd 7) Upper Thomson Rd 8) Yishun Ave 2 The above info will be useful all drivers
  3. Austin the Westie: juz wait till me master get me new skimmer!!! until then........
  4. refer to this thread for answers. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...glass+thickness
  5. me!!! we r talking abt a dog fight here aren't we??? juz wait till i lay my paws on u 2!!!
  6. wisest choice will be to make a police report, i think the police will be able to track down the number even if it is a withheld number.
  7. u must hv been drinking again when u were testing ur PO4 with salifert.
  8. it's really an eyesore lol, last time i used to hide my tunze too, but still cannot hide the 4x maxijets from popping out.
  9. i guess a deflection of flow off the glass will be ur next best choice if u cant find a suitable spot for the tunze.
  10. not only try to keep both phosphate and nitrate low, try to keep them at undetectable levels. especially for PO4. This can be easily achieved by the use of rowaphos, will produce better results when used wif a FR. as for nitrate, if cant achieve zero, then try to keep it as low as possible. though nitrate is not much harmful to fishes, but they r fatal to to many inverts and corals in high concentrate. there r numerous ways to keep nitrate low, biological: berlin, jaulbert, etc chemical: AZ-NO3, etc mechanical: efficient skimming, denitrator, etc. and of coz the zeovit system 2.
  11. Yes. one of the nutrients contributing to algae bloom.
  12. diy a hang on type dripper, that will solve ur space constraint problem and yet another cheap and alternative diy dripper product.
  13. ur neighbour is right. pouring kalk solution right into a tank might caused pH shock to the LS. dripping kalk at a slow rate is the best way out. i'm sure u can find a little space for this in ur sump area. pH of water from waterworks is usually between 7.0 to 9.0.
  14. no more points huh? juz ask one of ur family members to take the r@p for u.
  15. IME, i hv seen both multiflotor SL and EuroReef ES-6 worked b4 and am owning an H&S myself. all i can say is all 3 skimmers r rather effective considering the low running cost. both H&S and euroreef r rather popular in RC; not to mention the becketts (Barr, MRC, Aerofoamer, etc.) get a skimmer which u can afford, what u wanna keep plays an impt part. running cost of skimmer is another influencing factor.
  16. 1. insufficient flow in main tank resulting in accumulated detritus built up. 2. immatured dsb (some take more than 6 mths to work). sandbed does not hv the require exposure area to work? dsb more deep enuff (at least 4" IMHO)? 3. inefficient skimmer? prizm is good enuff for a moderate bio load to a tank size of abt 2.5 to 3ft IMHO. 4. high bio load? depends on how big is ur tank (4 fishes might be a lot). 5. water change? using RO/DI? IME, i render the seachem denitrator useless. i hv tried to no success 2. maybe tineng is right, need to run it under 200L/hr.
  17. another good reason to use H&S will be the low running cost due to low electrical consumption.
  18. that is the reason why it is better to hv ur aquascape almost up and ready and hv enuff LRs before or during the cycling transition period. so that when u hv the need to add in more LRs, buy and add a little at a time in order to prevent another cycling process.
  19. dump in a pc of market prawn. cycling kick starts, problem solved.
  20. i dunno exactly how hot it is. but i did accidentally spilled a few drops of water on my 150W MH casing (while the MH was on) once, the water fizzled into steam in a matter of 5 secs. better hv ur nephews not too near the tank. accident happens......
