  1. siphon??? use a hose to do it. u can either buy a handheld hand-pumped hose for ard $5 or use a normal rubber hose. place ur rowa in either the first or last compartment (in the water, not btw floss) will do relatively ok but IME not as 1/2 as efficient when coupled wif a FR. 4 spoonful is ok or not, i do not know as i do not know ur tank size. IMHO, a general guide will be to calculate the true water vol of ur setup and use the recommended dosage. add in 30% of the rowa, then 10 to 20% increment thereafter every few days till u reach the recommended dosage.
  2. can ask if edmund of EAN if he has stock for them. pumps to be used for remora r maxijet 1200 or sicce idra.
  3. reducing macro/micro bubbles from outflow pipes can be acieved with the usage of a baffle, e.g. filter floss, filter sock, etc. but this often means regular maintenance to prevent detritus,NO3 build up 2.
  4. siphon off the cyano growing on ur sandbed. use PO4 reducing agents e.g. rowaphos, contraphos, biophos, phosban, etc with a FR to increase efficiency. (note the stress induced if u dump in the recommended amt of PO4 reducing agent all at once, add in slow & little increment). using AZ-NO3, hv to be coupled with a efficient skimmer for ideal DOC export. AZ-NO3 maximize DOC export thru enzyme-based product.
  5. Land of the Rising Sand??? Rising Sun u mean....... u sleepyhead. Thanks for the birthday wishes. unfortunately, i hv to spend it in pain in japan as i fell off my bicycle (my only transportation tool) while riding it yesterday. sprained my right shoulder and arm, talk abt birthday luck.
  6. hamannbmw is oredi 2 old. the army dun want him.
  7. juz one word of advice........ no more new LS additions to ur tank pls!
  8. wow!!! really hardcore. can pm me the price of that LED setup?
  9. SW = salt water cyclopeeze = planktonic food. do a search to find info. most lfs hv them. polyps will usually open when the coral is hungry or in the evening.
  10. i do not know what ur dosing regime is like. but if i were to hv a sun coral and to see it thrive, i would recommend target feeding, or simply juz take the sun coral out and immerse it in a container mixed with SW and cyclopeeze and leave it there for 10 to 15 mins b4 taking it out and putting it back in the tank.
  11. i still dun get what u mean by air-bubble types........ all skimmers works by exporting DOC with fine air bubbles. if u r talking abt hang on skimmers, u might wanna seek out macro needlewheel, Aquamedic Multi SL, AquaC Remora pro, etc.
  12. here r some links which r of good info. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2032 http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3141 http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2032 http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5300
  13. u can choose to vary ur feeding. but at least twice a week will be a good guide. sun corals need to be fed individually bcoz it is one of the few corals that does not contain a symbiotic algae.
  14. invest in a good skimmer for ur 4x2x2. needlewheels, AquaC, beckett, etc. u wun regret it if u r going for a reef setup.
  15. IME, no. they r quite easy and hardy provided u know how to keep them happy. no. they require target feeding to every single polyp with mysis/brine shrimps, etc. low lights with moderate water movement will do well for them. as above. for more general info, u can refer to here.
  16. what's the point of buying lots of corals which can cost up to over thousands of dollars and yet dun hv the necessary equipments to keep them? i wld rather u save up and buy the appropriate equipments b4 stocking up on corals.
  17. u mean getting a sander wood style skimmer for ur 4x2x2? it will never be enuff even if it is a FOWLR.
  18. Yes. u can do all of the above to control ur chiller. i hv did it b4 wif the help of Cedric. pm him for details.
  19. wld very much like to take a good look and compare the difference. but still stuck in japan till dec. btw, visit lfs at Ueno today........ Hikaru Aquarium....... nothing fantastic ........ even iwaki pumps here r more ex than spore and almost twice of the price in HK.
  20. McGrory Glass Inc and some other glass makers/suppliers listed aquariums as one of the applications for Luxar glass. Glass thickness of Luxar is provided up to 12mm. is there a possibility of replacing the starphire glass wif Luxar glass? of i coz i dunno whether the feasibility is there, as i do not know the stress yield on Luxar and the price compared to starphire. McGrory Glass Info on Luxar Technical info on Luxar
  21. thxs for the info. can't seem to find the diamante low iron glass u were talking abt in their website.
  22. IMHO, this glass provided by Singapore Safety Glass might be in the same grade or even better than starphire or optic white. LUXAR ANTI-REFLECTIVE GLASS LUXAR is an anti-reflective coated glass that provides improved visual transmission, picture clarity and reduced glare with its very low residual reflection. Traditional glass reflects about 8% of the incident light. LUXAR, however, reflects only about 0.5% of the incident light; allowing 99.5% of light to pass through for presentation of information and merchandise without unwanted reflections or mirror-like effects. LUXAR is most commonly used for shop fronts, stadium VIP lounges, control rooms, scenic restaurants, animal enclosures, picture frames, PC monitors and information display panels.
  23. finally i see another reefer using the same juwel tank as i m having.
