  1. if u plan not to add LRs in future, by all means u can. else adding LRs in future will kick off another cycling process. juz add a pc of market prawn.
  2. i disagree on this. even if u r not running the core of the zeovit system, namely the zeoliths; i believe u r still able to use the add-ons such as amino acid concentrate, potassiumiodide fluoride concentrate, iron concentrate, etc.
  3. promotes growth of the symbiotic algaes in corals.
  4. pH , kH, Ca, current, etc other than lights play an impt part towards promoting coralline growth 2. having a mixture of lights other than actinic is advisable.
  5. DB, u almost stocked liaoz....... leave the rest to me.

  10. i only hv eyes for the peach ric florida.
  11. why didn't u compare the price from those in indonesia instead. *start to bang head against wall*
  12. an abstract from this month's reefkeeping online magazine. There are two widely recognized species of Ricordea, R. florida from the Atlantic and Caribbean, and R. yuma from the Indo-Pacific region. Both are very popular in the aquarium trade. Ricordea yuma is readily distinguished from R. florida by the fact that the former has pseudotentacles on the ###### cone, while the latter does not. Also, R. florida often has numerous mouths and elongated irregular polyps, while R. yuma is usually circular, with one mouth. All are spectacular due to the grape-like tentacles on their ###### disc, but some especially prized specimens have brilliant fluorescent proteins in shades of orange, red, pink, blue, and green. the original article on Corallimorpharia can be found here. happy reading.
  13. but the lights shld not be 2 strong. esp under MH. rics need proper acclimatization to lights b4 moving them to the location u desire.
  14. think ur live sand hv oredi gone "dead" since u did not put in a powerhead for circulation. IMHO, i see no point adding in a powerhead now. u might as well store the sand away and recycle when u start again to cultivate the beneficial bacteria. alternatively, u can give or throw the sand away and buy new packs when u need it. a 10kg pack cost $6 from petmart.
  15. normal turbo snails r known to topple corals but r they make good reef janitors. hermit crabs will look for a new refuge shell when they grow out of the shells they r in, therefore it is is quite possible for the hermits to hunt for a new refuge if need be. 1 solution is to add some variety of empty shells into ur tank.
  16. 1 of the nicest pics of a ric i hv come across.
  17. that's quite possible, stitch........ but i believe the bacteria r oso gone. Gambit: any form of flow or current induced in ur pail of LS?
  18. IMHO, best way is still to use a KR coupled with a auto water top up device. really a good offer now as cookiemunster and a few reefers r selling them.
  19. it does not really matter if he washes with fresh or salt water now, since he mentioned that the sand is oredi giving off an odour. this points to the fact that the bacteria colonies on the sand hv oredi gone bad and dead.
  20. 8ft x 3ft x 3ft??? ur tank is huge!!! is this tank located in singapore?
  21. hamannbmw, for ur tank's depth, shld go 4 at least 2x250W since it is abt 2 ft. my tank is only left wif 1 ft after deducting dsb, therefore, i m using 2x150W MH wif 4x39W T5s. moreover, MH is only at most 6" off the surface of the water. hv managed to see growth and maintain the colours of my sps.
