  1. clownfishes coupled wif anemones, i guess is juz a symbolic relation. it is not a must have for any parties. my 2 true perculas r still surviving up to this very day despite a tank crash and wif no anemones.
  2. i truely dun deserve all these goodwill. it's juz that i hv nothing better to do & hv too much time at hand in the land of the rising sun. if not for the chance to surf webbies, i guess i'll be bored to death here. rest assured i wun get to kaypo this much upon my return to spore. will be 2 busy cheonging LFS to rebuild my tank, prepare for wedding & spend more time with my old folks, my fiancee, my little westie Austin & my reef. i am still learning everyday and the road to knowledge is endless. kudos to all who r willing to share and learn.
  3. dunno what's wrong with me. hv been experiencing giddiness for 1 week (on and off), since the magnitude 6 earthquake that shook Niigata last saturday (23/10). feel as if i m on a sampan and the whole world is constantly floating around me. could it be: 1. the 250++ Earthquakes, aftershocks, tremors i hv experienced within the week? 2. not enuff sleep? (i only sleep 6 hours a day during weekdays due to insomnia) 3. homesick??? 4. work-related stress??? 5. stare at the computer for 2 long??? (i spend almost 14 hours a day staring at the screen)
  4. my exact sentiments!!! no matter which forum u go to, juz contribute in good sense. promote the local reefing scene.
  5. Here it is. but this pc of info is from quite a while back and is not updated.
  6. well, GARF is not the only webbie out there. different schools, different thoughts. who cares......... as long as it works.
  7. sad to say, corals in japan r 3 times as expensive as in spore. surf the nippon reef webbies and u will know what kind of prices i'm looking at over here. CITES is very much in place here.
  8. i want a part in this when i come back hor........
  9. a credit card is the must hv for all. can use it to buy reef-related products. then when expired, makes a good algae scrubber.
  10. hi jackie, I'm not hitting u. take it with a pinch of salt. juz wanna say that having more local reefing forums does not seems like a bad idea at all. more info and a wider base for local reefers. why not? it all boils down to individual reefer's preference at the end of the day. i oso quote u: SRC...Wan sui wan sui wan wan sui!! piglet & flubberina13: yup, gentleman & reputable for spouting nonsense. cheers & happy reefing everyone.
  11. IMO, very fast, esp true for those pasteurized colored sps.
  12. FYI, sgreefing.com (fomerly known as MZA) is juz the product of a few reefers who chose to provide another alternative webbie other than SRC. no ill malice intended. look at arofanatics, they do hv a marine forum over there dun they? the americans and europeans hv hundreds of reefing forums........ and more or less, the reefing acronyms r similar. so is this to say that SRC has been copying the predecessor webbies b4 hand??? come on, hv an open mind.
  13. The "new tank syndrome" i m talking abt refers to the period of time up to ur tank matures and not when ur tank has finished the cycling stage. finishing the cycling stage does not implies that ur tank has oredi matured. maturity of a tank takes abt 6 months or more. during this period, it is not only phosphate that contributes to algae bloom. NO3 and many other nutrients and factors contribute to algae bloom 2. as i hv said, putting in phosphate remover media right from the start will do no harm. but there is no way to avoid the new tank syndrome. if anyone manage to get by the new tank syndrome period without having even the slightest hint of nuisance algae, kudos to u. but i doubt so. juz me 2 cents.
  14. quick..... quick....... someone force skimmate down terence's throat!!!!
  15. water from our taps r processed by PUB. even so, some reefers hv decided to go thru further RO/DI filtration. so what makes u think it will be safe to use rainwater?
  16. dose products like seachem reef builder, etc.
  17. IMHO, even if u use GAC & phosphate remover, there is no way to avoid algae growth during the "new tank syndrome" stage.
