hi 35Cents, u r talking abt a water company in Long Beach, California which supplies processed seawater to their respective customers. this is entirely different situation from buying SW from our local LFSs. at best SW from local LFSs wld hv gone thru simple processing and aeration, but i am quite sure our local LFSs dun hv the expertise and technology to go thru the complex filtration methods as what CatalinaWater did. juz me 2 cents.

one of the more common & best way to test when to change ur phosphate remover media, e.g. rowaphos, will be to test ur water parameters with a reliable PO4 test kit.

IMHO, refrigerant will only leak out of a system when there is a chance to escape to the environment thru means of refrigerant "eating thru" joints, valves, inappropriate refrigerant hoses used (not refrigerant friendly), etc. most points hv been covered by alvy oredi. for aquarium chillers, normally there r 2 types. 1 using the thermoelectric technology, e.g. iceprobe, which is suitable for small aquariums. the other being the conventional refrigerant method which is the same as most household, commercial systems. in this case, using air cooled condensers rather than cooling towers (water cooled).

for bio home, it shld be used fully submerged in water.

dunno for other reefers, but i use T5s with MH to offset the yellowish tinge from 10kk bulbs with T5 actinics.

the 2 red bars u hv r actually an indication of ur number of post in SRC. there r 2 arrays of indication. the other being the warning level, as what terryansimon has mentioned. *pengz*
