  3. wld like to get to see some close up shots i hv something similar in my tank which looks like urs. i hv nassarius snails in my tank, but apparently, nassarius snails r rather unlikely to spawn in captive conditions. so most likely those snails that hv spawned in my tank r not nassarius. in addition, these unidentified snails of mine r always grazing on film algae on the glass rather than nassarius which r detritus feeders. hv tried searching possible id for the snails but to no avail. my guess will be that they r from the astreas genus. sorry liao. talking abt my snails instead of urs.
  4. how far away is ur return from ur main tank in terms of height? IMHO, 5000L/hr (note: head loss not factored in) is too much for a 1" overflow piping to handle. i use 2x 1.25" piping to handle my return of 6500L/hr. (note: head loss not factored in) here is something to help u along. http://www.reefcentral.com/calc/drain.php

  6. 2 tunzes??? there r many models for tunze, each representing different flowrates, etc....... there is much homework to be done.
  7. depends on what u wanna keep. FOWLR, softies, SPS, LPS, mixed, etc....... again, this depends on what u wanna keep...... this will depend on the space catered to hse ur skimmer, the bio load which the skimmer is going to handle, etc and a whole lot of other factors........ is beckett the wisest choice? what abt needlewheel, venturi, spray-injection styled, etc skimmers? is power consumption a factor? noise? all these versus performance and efficiency........ u decide. personal preference. depends on what u want....... having a refugium means regular pruning........ looking out for macroalgae turning assexual, etc........ but it sure is a good form of nutrient export. juz quote myself as an example, not saying that i m right, but this is how i do it. main tank > sump > chiller/skimmer/ CR/FR/denitrator > sump > return > main tank.
  8. there r really some good articles to read up on if u do an extensive search. here's one to help u along with. http://sg.wrs.yahoo.com/;_ylt=AmRCJBdHcVW9...hickness.0.html

  15. wld u rather like to exchange sps frags for ur monti??? tank pics r as per my signature in "Lightningstrike's Back!!!"
  16. work within ur budget, go for the largest setup u think u can afford. think far, think sps....... patience and sustainability.
  17. in small amts........ i know of reefers that use only a few spoonful of GAC in their 60++ gallon tank, changing rowa every few days and his sps r swee. but of coz, diff tanks hv different needs and different capabilities to cope with the PO4 induced, etc....... so there is no hard and fast rule to this. best way is to experiment out urself and find out what is best.
  18. issit??? i didn't notice any significant speed increase leh?
