  5. BH, if u r replying to my post as u hv quote, i wld suggest u to state ur due clearly. for i did not for once in this post in any way implied that the project u r undertaking (or abt to undertake) is impossible.
  6. scaping change with time as sps grow. hence, hindering flow directions. IME, appropriate re-location of wavemaker, rescape and pruning of sps will help.
  7. in a way, yes...... the issue does becomes more or less moot. from the way i see it, wasting taxpayers' monies is a concern for some reefers here who had expressed their views. my humble suggestion is only addressed to that point made, which i think is a considerable alternative.
  8. Good luck to ur friend, if caught tampering with the natural habitat off the GBR, i can assure u the fine will be very very hefty.
  9. juz my humble suggestion. it may be a feasible option, no harm trying. spending a few K's contributing towards marine research wun hurt them. Big infrastructures like SIA & Creative r also one of the most volatile in SES aren't they?
  10. i luv reservist with the exception of IPPT. my unit has gone thru so much fun and sufferings together. guess our ridiculous training regime during our NS times in a combat unit hv bonded us in to a company of lifelong frenz. really great to see each other annually and talk abt the good old dayz.
  11. my 2 cents: why not juz approach one of the largest if not the largest ornamental fish/equipment supplier in Singapore; Qian Hu, for a similar grant to support ur school's research programme on marine biology. juz like what SIA has contributed to ur school recently for the Rooftop Garden in Dunman Sec Sch. This way, all will stand to benefit. Qian Hu will stand to gain from its goodwill, Dunman will hv its influx of funds for research. Reefers all around will get to see the progress of ur school's research and will not lament on wasting taxpayers' monies. 3 birds with one stone and everyone's happy.
  12. anything beautiful corals left to salvage?
  13. hi cheese, good to see u back. i believe we r both using the same tank. u r always welcomed to pm me for help. but i wun be responsible for ill advice.

  18. i might juz do that if i can find the time, wld luv to see some great works of "live reef" again after being an hermit in japan for 1/2 yr. for the invitation. very nice indeed. *LS off to buy a bottle of copper as door gift.*
  19. can pass me some magic water from ur tank to bless my tank when i restart next month? and pls dun tell me u gonna charge me 300 for it.
  20. my suggestion will be to follow advance aquarist tips here it is in my own words, 1. Grow macroalgae for nutrient export. 2. Get a more efficient skimmer. 3. Drip kalk 4. use phosphate removing agents, e.g. rowa 5. keep pH high (8.4) Pls refer to this link (Advance Aquarist) for detailed info. p.s. i hv tried tips 1 to 4 b4, but not tip 5.
  21. how mature is ur tank? if ur tank is relatively new, ur mandarin most probably starved due to a lack of food source (copepods).
  22. read the link to advanced aquarist. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/sept2002/chem.htm
