  1. very true DB....... am having a jolly good laugh in reservist now. ever had "stand by bed" in the parade square b4 (locker, bed, etc inclusive)???
  2. u can try electronic timer, btw, what kalkreactor r u using? frequent on/off of pumps within a short period of time will cause pump failure. IMHO, for kalk, stirring of 10 to 15 mins every 1 to 1.5hrs should suffice. juz me 2 cents.
  3. yup and do look out for those nasty pyramid snails which u might inevitably hv in ur system.
  4. juz got an ixus 40 as a compact cam. not too bad....... but of coz....... compact cameras do hv their limitations.
  5. IMHO, there is no way to judge a tank's bio load from what kind of fishes/livestock u keep. the biological filtration of an old but proper setup can naturally handle a higher bio load then a new but immatured setup. other factors include skimmer capabilities, size of tank, usage of NNR, etc...... juz for illustration, some reefers can keep a school of tangs/anthias in a well setup matured tank and be successful, but some can even barely keep a anthias/tang in a newly setup tank.
  6. nassarius snails seems to be the best choice for this application.
  7. hmmmm...... u hv a point there, but for me...... anything to keep murphy away will be a blessing. nowadays, pressure rated pumps like resun r also priced competively.
  8. yup....... colour morph is real metallic green.
  9. siao liao....... value dropping like dead flies....... ..... joking.
  10. thanks for clearing the air, roidan. a high end non-pressure rated pump like the Royal-Exclusiv Red Dragon wld be prone to failure when used with the wrong applications.
  11. IMHO, i wld strongly recommend using a pressure rated pump, e.g. iwaki, resun, etc to run a beckett skimmer. the back-pressure acting on a non-pressure rated pump will eventually cause the pump to spoil.
  12. buy a pH test pen or monitor. more accurate.
  13. hv a tunze 6060 for sale. 6000l/hr. abt 6 mths old. juz did maintenance on it. pm me to discuss.
  14. hi robe, very nice width u hv there. i wld say at least 2.5ft to 3ft judging from the pics. lots of room to play with.....
  15. bro, very kind of u....... the spirit of a true D.I.Y guru.
  16. Great! then i can take care of his other child for him....... the black black SS1.
  17. upgrade ur tank lor. go for one that is even larger than ur previous setup....... 5 footer to start with, then u'll hv lots of space.......
  18. yellow tail damsel??? r u talking abt the azure damselfish? used to own 1 b4, no problem with it.
  19. i see i see...... u certainly like the bluish/purplish look dun u? judging by the color temp of the bulbs that u hv went for (T5s & MHs alike). sps color up even more oso, surprisingly ur sps growth is quite substantial....... (taking only color temp, PAR of bulbs into consideration only) keep those gorgeous pics coming bro.
  20. hi jimmy, something sets me off pondering. u r having a 3 ft tank (101cm in length to be exact), can't u juz use 39W T5s......... read that u r using 24W T5s. can u post a pic of how u mount the 2ft T5s on ur tank?
  21. lots of YT @ Iwarna last friday. call them to check.
