as i type, it is with a heavy heart. juz a couple of hours ago, ard 2130hrs, i spotted a purple ric splitted from it's mother colony. tried to catch a hold of it. but the current in my tank was nevertheless too strong, it blew the purple ric frag all the way to the rear of the tank behind all the rockwork. thus, i attempted to rescue the ric frag with my pair of thongs. alas, my clumsy hands got the better of me and disturbed the rockwork on the right of my tank. causing all the LRs to collapse!!! so begins my underlying task of rescaping and rescuing my existing corals. hv juz finish rescaping, too bad........ there were some casualties. 1) pink birdnest....... STN (still in the main tank, hoping for a recovery soon) 2) purple acro........ RTN (spotted 1 branch RTN, immediately snipped the RTN branch off with a pair of sharp pliers. 3) never manage to find the purple ric frag.

1) kalk due to its high pH nature (ard 12 to 13) maintains pH in a reef tank when dose in steady and minimal amt; due to the use of CO2 for a CR, CR effluent always hv low pH value of ard 6.5. kind of balance up the pH. 2) kalk precipitates PO4. 3) short term solution in the case that CO2 needs decanning/topping up.

little to do in office, so calculated some turnover rates : 1) Skimmer Turnover Rate: True water volume= approx. 200L Skimmer pump (Iwaki MD55R5)= 4200L/hr Skimmer Turnover Rate= 4200/200= 21 times/hr 2) Main Tank Return Turnover Rate: True water volume= approx. 200L Return pump (RD 6500)= approx. 4500L/hr (head loss of 2k factored in) Main Tank Return Turnover Rate= 4500/200= 22.5 times/hr 3) Max. Main Tank Internal Circulation Rate: Main Tank true water volume= approx. 150L Red Sea Wavemaster Pro, 4x Maxijet 1200= 4400L/hr Return pump (RD 6500)= approx. 4500L/hr (head loss of 2k factored in) Max. Main Tank Int. Circulation Rate= (4500 + 4400)/150= 59.33 times/hr

pH of effluent 6.3 is a little 2 low for my liking. IMHO, preferably 6.7.

The answer to my low nutrients environment, Corals Lab 8" x 30" Beckett Skimmer (resting on Pacific Coo 1/2 HP chiller).

I-Aquatics Auto Shut-off Waste Collector, ISW-612. no more flooding of balcony due to incorrect tuning of gate valve on beckett.

top-up water reservoir, Corals Lab Kalk Stirrer & RM Fluidised Reactor. in the background is the I-Tub (given to me by my kind friend, Vinoth). all essential equipment and sump are resting on 10x (2ft x 1ft) chenggai support stands used for outdoor flower pots. bought them from Far East Florist in Thomson. the blue mat u see, is a waterproof anti-slip mat bought from Ikea.
