1st thing 1st, iodine and iodide r entirely different in the marine environment. iodide is a supplement, iddine is a hazard for marine life forms!!! yes most softies require iodide, but overdosing will not be good. most trace elements can be replenished by water change, esp when u r using recommended salt mix like tropic marin.

why take the risk of polluted sand. beautiful grade 0 sand r readily available at onli $6 per 10kg.

have the above mentioned float valve for sale. very short arm. not the normal toilet bowl kind. made in UK. good for auto water top up. juz get a L-shaped pipe connector, connect 1 side to the float valve and the other side to ur water source e.g. (water main, coke bottle). secure the float valve onto ur sump wif the float sitting on ur sump's water. presto, u hv urself a auto water top up device. going at $25.
