  4. hi all, i encountered a strange happening on friday. here goes, i hv 2 algae blennies (both abt 2.5" long), 1 in my main tank and the other in my refugium. On thursday nite, while taking a peek in my refugium, i discovered the algae blenny in my refugium missing. i took out all the macroalgae and LRs in my refugium but could not manage to find that bugger. i assume it was dead....... the next day after i returned from work, i took a look in my main tank and presto!!!! i found 2 algae blennies in my main tank!!!! how is that possible?? i'm using a sicce idra as a return pump from my refugium to main tank. the sicce idra in my refugium is operated at max capacity with a 16mm hole attachment to maximise flowrate. i mean even if the algae blenny was sucked into the return pump, wun it oredi hv become minced meat??? i'm baffled by the whole encounter.... think anyone can provide me with reasonable answers???
  5. so sorry...... the hanna one i'm talking abt is my ph pen....... the ph meter i'm using is milwaukee. but hanna oso do supply ph meter.
  6. me spotted a mantis shrimp in my tank yesterday........ saw in hiding in a crevice in one of my LRs. I injected the crevice with kalk paste immediately and poke the crevice with a sharp toothpick....... wonder if it's dead??? damn those buggers!!!
  7. why shan't we vote for britney and hamasaki???

  10. the ben timer is pretty reliable, sold at abt $18, most lfs carries them. top-up timer?? wouldn't u be better off using a tubby?
  11. can try Sim Lim Tower, lots of gadgets there. price varies with brand and quality.
  12. getting 1 bartlett??? think they will do better in schools as they r schooling fishes.
  13. Great!!! now u hv both blastomussa merleti and wellisi...... same as me....
  14. sure....... but must b4 i leave for japan......
  15. good choice...... i was using phosguard for my initial start up bcoz of the cost in other phosphate remover, but has since changed to rowaphos and hv no regrets ever since. but phosphate is not the only contributing factor to algae problems....... lots of others to consider.......e.g. high nutrient level in SW, nitrates, long photo period, etc..... juz me 2 cents.
  16. phosguard works....... but ill in comparison to the others listed below...... seachem phosguard expensive??? then u dun wanna know the prices of the others....... rowaphos, biophos, contraphos, etc......
  17. c the link. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...l=macro+skimmer
  18. i agree with roidan, max might be 2 strong for his words, but he meant well....... both max and AT stand by their relentless support of the products they believe in. at the end of the day, i believe both products r equally good. prices do differ, but not by a far fetch. what end consumers want is always value for monies. juz me 2 cents.
  19. think he's harmless...... surely he means surf.
  20. dun join bro scarab's and my clam graveyard.....
  21. bro scarab, now change ur target to collecting monti cap liao huh??? for ur info, u can pm AGM whether he has any for sale......
  22. pls for goodness sake remove the dead clam immediately!!! will it give out disease or not..... that i dunno..... but it will certainly rot in ur tank and post high nitrates and phosphate in time...... u also dun get dreaded clam disease juz bcoz ur clam was not attached to a pcs of LR. keep a close watch on the rest of ur LS these few days....... dun want another reefer to end up like me and bro scarab..... where our tank sucumbbed to the dreaded clam disease....... we lost abt 30 to 40 clams combined!!!! juz me 2 cents.
  23. cheer up dude...... i'll be going overseas for 6 mths soon....... wonder what will happen when i return.....
  24. I hv heard similar stories b4....... u r not the only one........ juz make do with a hood for ur new tank if u intend to prevent such mishaps from happening in the future. esp with jawfish, firefish and certain gobies..... R.I.P
