he says coralline algae is dirty...

if its tiny spots and they are pretty hard to scrub off, they could be coralline algae... which is good and bad at the same time. if its hair algae, its mostly bad...

i dont blame the divers, they do have a point. In a way, our hobby will affect oceanic life... but it so happens that every hobby wont please everyone. as minsmarine said, even diving also has its cons. My friend said during peak season, certain hot spots of Redang would be littered with lifejackets! and not to mention corals being killed when boats go over them.... And its not like we are killers. We are lovers of the ocean, we dont buy fish or corals to kill but instead to learn and appreciate the beauty of them...on the other hand, we however are guilty of some deaths but i guess thats part and parcel of learning - as long as we dont buy LS indiscrimately!

i am starting this discussion as i find carbon is such a pain in the ###### to use. its good for our water but i find its extremely aggressive. Sometimes its a case of too much, too fast and my sps will show signs of stress. One of our bros here mentioned that even changing brands of carbon can cause stress or stn in his tank. i believe thats true... So here i am, asking the experts: 1. how often to change carbon? 2. should there be a gradual change? something like acclimatising carbon to the tank... heh.... for me, i added more carbon as top up so 1 week later i will remove the older bag...

i am thinking of getting some SLFs ... will they attack fishes? i fear for my baby BT... SLFs look scary too. like some spider... but since they will eat just about any algae, i gonna use them to attack my red macro... so i guess no choice la. on a side note, does that new LFS in jalan kayu still have SLFs? anyone know where else has them?
