yes i tot about that. but just too difficult cos e wires are too short. if u wana do that, den u got to think of a way to connect e wires behind e reflector while e reflector is in e casing! too much trouble.....

to be honest i dunno! heh..... but so far mi corals look fine..... is there any kick in for UV to burn corals? few days? weeks? or just few minutes will do?

yes, the ballast, capacitor, ignitor come ready assembled in that black box. no nid to do anithing at all. just plug and play.....

Hi Dr Evil... thanks for the advice! 1) yes i noticed e screws do not hold too tightly. e light has been in operation for 5 days so far and no problems. i certainly dunwan it to explode! the holes i drilled for the holder are slightly bigger too, not tat i anticipated the issue of free play but rather a not too precise drill job. thankfully, e aluminum material is quite forgiving..... 2) i added a fan oredi. but i have a chiller for mi water too... once again, thanks for your invaluable advice...

Acknowledgements I wana thank my MH consultant, Cedric (u're the man!) for being so patient and teaching me how to DIY the light fixture. I am really a MH goondu la. Also Dr Evil and Calciumreef (both of whom I had initially approached to DIY for me but in the end DIY myself) for their advice and willingness in providing info on MH lighting. To Wedgee for the loan of his DigiCam without which I would not be able to post this thread at all. And of cos to SRC for providing this forum thru which I was able to gather so much help and resources!

The tempered glass logo…haven’t seen the tempered glass logo before. Anyone can help verify?

This is the tempered glass shield that I tried very hard to find. It’s 12 x 8 inch x 5mm thick. Got it from Calciumreef, costs $45.

Turns out that the cover was abit too small, had to use cable ties all over. Ugly but anyway cant be seen la…

I had an idea to use the spare 3 core wire cover…. So I stripped it out…

Wires - all tucked in!

The wires are hardcore ones Comes with memory effect. I used cable tie to bundle into a simple frame and tucked the wires at the side.

It even has a rubber hole for the wires….

I used the many gaps in the casing to slot in the wires, out of sight.

And the bulb is mounted….

After drilling the holes for the bulb holders…

Very fitting. The sheet metal comes in a standard width, I just had to cut it to length.
